Jesus I spent so much time today trying to get it to work , this really so annoying. Was just tryna relive some cool childhood memories and ea gotta mess it up. of course :/ So what did u sya to them get them to give you the code or whatever?
also how did you contact them?
Basically I headed over to EA support and explained my problem. The first person I chatted with told me to link my Steam and EA accounts, but that didn't work. The second person told me to attach the proof to my case. When I got to the third person, I explained my problem (I couldn't log into my EA account in Spore, and I couldn't access the online content.) Basically what he did was he automatically added Spore to my Origin Client game library, and then sent me a CD Key just in case. Then I just downloaded the game through Origin Client, logged into my EA account in Spore, closed it, and then opened the Steam version. Once I did that, I was able to just log in normally and keep playing.

^^^ this is what EA support will need to do. If I remember correctly, the advisor will need to get their supervisor to verify the proof of purchase (receipt from steam) and then they can give you a brand new code on your account.
Here is the link to contact EA Origin support: https://help.ea.com/en/games/limited-support/ (you can typically choose chat or phone, email might be available too)One thing I do want to note, you should NOT have two copies of Spore installed at the same time, on the same computer.
If your code is registered, you do not need to install the game from Origin (unless you wish to use mods) - just having the game listed in your library is enough. Just launch the Steam version of the game, enter your EA account email and password, and a new Spore screen name, and you're good to go.If you do choose to install the game from Origin (i.e. to use mods, or if you simply prefer Origin over Steam), make sure to uninstall the Steam version first. You will need to uninstall the base game and any expansions, then reinstall from Origin. Having both installed has a very high chance of causing problems, and if you have done this you should fully uninstall both copies and reinstall from a single location.
I'm glad to have been of help. I've seen many people do what I did and share the information. It's great.
Man, I tried contacting EA support via that link and was told to contact Steam support instead. I provided proof of purchase and whatnot but was still just told to go to Steam support. Guess I get to wait for a response from Steam now
Went through the exact same process (lmao), however then last guy said that he recommends playing thorugh origin, Does it matter?
- @digilover21 I hope Steam support gives you the answer you need
- @Fammen720 Apparently it's the same
Steam support was trash. They just told me the game didn't come with a CD key and they sent me back to EA support. Today I called EA support and did get the problem solved, thank god. The man I talked to was very friendly and after proper verification and having me link my Steam account to my EA account just added Spore to my EA account. To anyone else who sees this and tries contacting EA, link your Steam account and ask if they can add Spore to your EA account. I wish I would've been more direct about it in the first place instead of jumping through so many hoops just to receive the same help other people got easily.
Yeah, I got told to link my Steam account to my EA account the first time I contacted support and it didn't help at all
Thank you, I just contacted EA Support and solved my problem with the same steps, linking the account and then adding Spore to the Origin account
- @bAUeSTRADA What's irritating though is that you need to do that to make it work. I'm kinda pissed, they shouldn't sell a product without having solutions at hand for their clients.
- @bAUeSTRADA The same was done for me (Spore via Origins) after also providing proof of purchase through Steam, but I'm still not able to login when launching via Origins.
How did you go about doing it?
- @bAUeSTRADA I tried this and they told me the game was part of their sunset list. Meaning the game is not supported and they told me they could not help me in any way.
Very helpful, I talked to the online staff, then EA added the Spore to my Oigirn library. BTW, you should install Origin and link it to the Steam account.
Here is the guideline to link them up:
Hello Kyle_NecroWolf,
Just to follow up, it also says I may need to purchase EA Play or EA Play Plus in order to play SPORE. Is this the case? Or can I access the Sporepedia WITHOUT paying this monthly fee?Really? When I got it from EA support it still didn't allow me to log on.
EA support has not been of any help at all, what do i need to do?
- @QuiuboRaza also Steam whont give the cd keys and the registry editor shows %CDKEY% for spore and the dlcs, like i said EA wont help at all and steam redirects me to EA, what can i do?
- @Fammen720 the reason they did this is because the spiffing brit was able to exploit the cd keys and got free games
Lucky [to whoever got it to work]! I got it to work with Origin, but when it comes to logging in, I keep getting told the game doesn't have any servers, so I can't login or register.
Where did you contact them?
Sat on chat for 3 hours today. Sent them screenshots of my Steam purchase exactly as they requested and got nowhere except having three different people tell me my screenshots didn't look right (even though not one of them told me what was wrong with what i attached) and to open another case and send them again. I can't condone that kind of sh&tty service so I uninstalled and asked for a refund from Steam. I won't be buying anything from EA again.
