Spore Activation Steam

Why is spore available on steam if i can't activate the online mode of it from steam because either the 'code can't be validated' or i 'don't have the privaleges' because i paid the money for this ga...

    If you are not able to play the game using you Steam client, I would advise to contact Steam customer support.

I appreciate the offer of assistance, but I did start with Steam.  As it says in the image, they do not provide support.
