Spore crashes when using abduction beam to pick up plants

I just entered space stage on one of my saves and I wanted to terraform a planet to T-score 3 but when I tried to pick up plants the game freezes for about 5 seconds then completely crashes however picking up plants from my homeworld still works. Does anyone know any potential fixes?

EDIT: I fixed this issue simply by reinstalling the game don't uninstall the base game only GA.
