Spore from Origin - original Galactic Adventures box and key

My kids lost the Spore DVD and key, so I had to purchase and download it from Origin.   I still have our box and key from Spore Galactic Adventures - and it installed OK, but doens't work.   You aren't able to start an adventure in-game.
