spore steam error connecting

I bought the game Spore via Steam but it gives a warning during the account opening phase, warning: there was an error connecting to the Spore servers. your computer might be offline or your internet connection may be having problems. check your connection or visit Spore.com for additional assistance or server status.
I tried some things on the internet after the warning but it didn't work, I would be glad if you could help me
