Personally I spent hours playing both, probably more on GRiD 2019 as the career was longer.
It's been a long time since I played a GRiD since the original, having switched to Forza full time.
As for the progression, I loved GRiD 2019 because I like the way it's laid out, literally a grid you fill in and you can measure your progress and what's left to do, all on 1 big page. In one visual, you have the career. Sometimes a bit repetitive but always very nice. I wasn't used to cars that capsize at the slightest touch of the joystick but I got used to it and it didn't bother me! All 3 DLCs were played and I loved them.
GRiD Legends finally does better with its driving and overall top notch graphics. However, I find the lights less beautiful, with less soul, but the graphics and the reflections compensate. The career is much less fun to go through, the visuals are laborious and the category system less well thought out. Nothing beats a good big grid. (Grid 2019 - Forza motorsport 4) The DLC, with the exception of the third one, is average overall and wasn't particularly fun to do. The first DLC is terribly poorly designed. Not to mention the problems with goal display - fixed and then bugged again - career resets, tracking event achievements that don't update... In short, in its V6, the game ends up being a bit of a disaster.
Overall, the 2019 version is a better game in my opinion.
I can’t help but love Legends Story. Doesn’t take itself seriously and has cheese in all the right places 😁👍

Neither. Grid Autosport was the pinnacle of the franchise for me.
