Is it not possible to chat in game with EA friends, or am I missing something?

My friend and I purchased Grid Legends for crossplay capabilities.  He is on PS5 and I'm on Xbox Series X.  We can join each others lobbies - but no chat.  I like to think I'm missing something as it seems mighty pointless to have crossplay and not be able to enjoy some chat and banter with friends I am racing with.

  • Second this - waste of money if I can’t even speak to my friends whilst playing. What is the point in cross play if it doesn’t work?!

  • +1 came here to make the same thread, this can't be real?

There is no better type of game than a simcade as such with voice, I've met so many friends over the years on the PGR series and this would be the same. Tons of opponents, but they feel like AI since nobody can communicate.

Please patch this in, it's actually that crucial.

  • Exactly, how are we supposed to discuss race setup & laugh at each other when we spin out? PC players have options such as team speak, but with my buddy on PS5 there's no way that we know of to get voice chat unless it's supported in game. Such a basic feature missing from such a good game, ruins it.

@CoderDudge agreed.... may aswell just have a ghost car driving around the track with your friends best times.

This is one of those games that I played for all of about 2-days and never went back. I'm generally an online only player - so this was a complete waste of money for me.
  • Definitely needs a voice feature for chatting with friends and random people while on the track.
