Low frame rate on Grid Legends Xbox series S

I have experienced problems with very low frame rates on Grid Legends with my Xbox series s.  This is particularly noticeable with rain or snow conditions and also at night. Making it unrewarding to play . Is there going to be an update to fix this. Can you switch off those weather effects?  This happened in career mode offline and story mode. Any suggestions would be helpful.

  • @Francis7603 This happened with the latest update, I have both series S and X. Grid Legends ran very smooth on both regardless of weather and I always run at night. No frame rate issues until the 6.0 update.
  • For me, on Xbox Series S, frame rate drops also happen when reaching the end of a track and turning around 180 degrees. Sometimes it's so bad it makes it hard to control the car, especially when driving very fast cars which require a lot of quick input. When this happens, if I look behind the car by using the right stick, what's happening in the track behind me has no frame rate drops. So it seems that when the track has to be suddenly rendered ahead of the car, the game doesn't handle it well.

I've also noticed that lens flare effects seem to trigger this, or maybe it's a coincidence. It would be nice to just turn those off anyway since they shouldn't need to be active if I've chosen the car hood camera or chase view.

Weather effects, fireworks and such aren't the only things that trigger this problem. This can happen on tracks with less detail. I've found the best way to avoid this is to make custom races on tracks with fewer spectators, less trees, and also of course during the day and not raining.

I noticed these performance issues when I got the update too. Before the update I had sometimes noticed minor issues with dynamic resolution, but rarely did I notice frame rate drops, and they weren't this bad.

@Donut_McFish Thank you for your reply. I haven't checked in that detail about when the frame rate drops. Also didn't know about the recent update. Do you know if anyone reported this problem to the developers?
  • @Bud_Cra yne Thanks for your reply. I've noticed frame rate drop at the beginning of races when all vehicles are together, but improved as the race progresses.

After I posted in this thread today, I noticed that someone had made a thread in the bug reports section:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Performance-regression-in-the-Winter-Bash-update/td-p/12293984

I clicked the "me too" button in the first post to indicate I am experiencing the same bug. I also linked this thread in a post.

To anyone else experiencing this problem, I'd suggest going to that bug report thread I linked above and clicking the "me too" button in the first post. If the developers are paying attention to the thread, that's a quick way of seeing how many people are reporting the problem.
