Ads instead of patches

I will try to stay civil here,

today I logged into steam, expecting a patch that brings us a new seasonal event and lots of the much needed fixes and social gameplay.
I was quite happy to see EA release an info on the page. Until I read it.

Instead of a patch, we get a promotion for EA play, so we get more customization ingame. So not only did the game release way to early, they now cut out the seasonal event for no event and offer us to pay for a service to receive the much asked for customization that is missing from the base game.

Who greenlit this action? This action speaks very loud that some suits in an ivory tower have their focus on milking the customers instead bringing back a much beloved franchise to its old glory.

At this point my patience is wearing thin. Even though I knew EAs history and saw how they approached the release, I was so eager to relive my tiger woods gold nostalgia, that I gave them the benifit of the doubt, especially when patch 2.0 was already a step in the right direction.

But this "update" just showed me again that we do not face a company that loves sports games and their players, but that is just driven by ROI and making some rich people richer.

Whoever thought that this was not a slap into the customer's face is so far detached from reality, that they should start playing their own game with their customers, to better understand why such an approach is just bad practise.
