Everyone has their priorities. The cup physics are - to me - the biggest issue this game has. Way too many lip outs that defied the rules of gravity and totally removed much of the immersion that this is a "simulation" golf game.
The fact they are willing to 100% overhaul the cup physics after almost 10 months is kind of crazy. It shows they are willing to make massive changes to the game even after this much time. Granted, so many things need to be addressed or added to this game, but I don't see this as a "lazy" update - they are literally completely replacing the tech for how the golf ball interacts with the cup. That seems to be a pretty massive undertaking.
Now, if the update makes no noticeable difference or actually makes it worse, then I don't know what to say.
I do agree that the difficulty and RNG in the game is an area of concern, too. But if the golf ball doesn't go into the golf hole properly, then the rest of the game doesn't really matter.

The game has always felt like it had no real physics and when they talk about frequencies of lip outs being comparable to how it was before, it tells me they are trying to pull the wool over our eyes saying it’s all new technology in this update. I call BS on it and it looks like a mere tweak to their fake physics which supports my opinion that with all the issues the game has had since it launched 9 months ago, this update is so so lazy and we will all be having the same conversations about the same issues within hours of the new update applying
I absolutely get that the game caters for the casuals and some will enjoy it and that’s their absolute right to do so but as a real competent golfer, this game is an insult to the sport. I know you’ll feel that’s a bit harsh but for a game that markets itself as an accurate simulation of golf, it plays like a game that is a million miles from anything like simulation golf and thats why it is such an insult to golf and actually it’s consumers who expected it to play like we were told.
i stand by what i said in that EA should ditch the game because they clearly have no idea about golf.
I don't think that the game is perfect but I cannot understand someone saying that this game is a million miles from simulation golf ...

@Mickstudio1308 Because I’ve actually played golf to a decent level and actually understand the game. I’m not kidding when I say it’s a million miles from simulation golf, it’s actually a polite term to use to describe the game which is a poorly executed arcade game at best and I can list so many reasons why, and it all starts with the amazingly poor physics and RNG. It’s very simple to understand this.

I couldn’t agree more. With what’s out there on the market (PC only for me) it’s EASILY my favourite golf game to play.

Just this morning I came back to this game after countless hours playing it and getting so frustrated with the "wind physics" that I stopped playing for the past three weeks and went back to 2K. I took it up again at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort where the winds are ATROCIOUS. So, just as in 2K, I adjust the ball trajectory for the wind conditions of 14 to 17 mph. I swing all out on power drive and the ball acts like there's no wind!!!. Then on a chip shot off the green at half swing the ball goes for 14 yards when the distance to the cup is 7 and I'm chipping into the wind!! I quit after the front nine.

I really wanted to like this game. The graphics are way better than 2K. But the game play is just horrendous. I give up!!

Just a note again Pinarello ... chipping is about a full rotation not a half swing. First determine the uphill or downhill of the greens. Next set the landing arrow for about 1/3 of the way to the pin on level, or half way for uphill or 1/4 of the way for downhill and take a full rotation. Practice in Quick Play.
Gobbledygook!! You try and chip with a full rotation from 10 yards away and see where the f-ing ball ends up!! This game is so broken I'm ready to delete it from my computer and call it a bad investment. 12mph winds that have ZERO effect on ball trajectory immediately followed by 5mph winds that move the ball 12 yards off course. Putting mechanics which are as consistent as a roulette wheel. Gravity defying lip outs! I am just tired of this crap!! No more!! I am going back to 2K Sports!
Electronic Arts, you could've had a great game here and you have totally blown it with the crappy gameplay. You will not get one more thin dime out of me!!
