Its just common sense and what makes a game sporting.   Its mindblowing how they developed this game.  I honestly think it was designed to get quick money and fail to fund other projects.  They abandoned the pc in 2008,  and the same 20 people who ragequit the online playerbase 15 years ago have also been killing this one.  And I think EA totally resents the community and just wanted to fleece us to develop another game.  The fact they literally had no online play developed on release was pretty telling.  The fact the ignored all the form requests,  99% of which were for turnbased multiplayer for months and months on end without even acknowledging the request.  was telling.    The fact when they finally added it half * and begrudgingly and then followed with every patch after designed to frustrated the playerbase was telling.    This is just the icing on the cake and I think this means they are now done with the game.   They probably won't shut the servers down, because then they should really refund us some money.

It is far from 99% asking for turn base, in fact there's probably less than 25% of customers playing online. The biggest complaint on twitter or whatever it's called these days, it's forcing players to play online for weekly quests during the Ryder Cup. Most people just don't want to play online against others. During the TW era, devs at EA said only 10% of users were playing against each other online. And that the most popular mode was by far the Arcade mode. The same was said by a dev during EA Rory, the most played was Arcade mode and the stupid Battlefield course was the most used.

tahts because everyone left the game.   and many who are not playing online probably would be, if they considered it playable.    I'm judging by the fact the forums were literally dominated by requests for online play features immediately at launch.   This is a sport.   Its an e-sport no matter how much you guys don't want to admit it.  Its ironic The dozen of you left here  keep saying you want a simulation golf game,  but in real life would yoou go to the golf course and play by yourself?  I feel the requests and +1's for turnbased over everything else was 99 to 1.   absolutely.   I hope they give me some of my money back when they take the servers down for this game on the pc.

E-sport? That's the problem for me and many others here. Why should I play against others who are sandbagers, cheaters, and once I'm ahead in a game, ragequit to not give me the pleasure to win a game? And they take forever to hit their shot to the last darn second because they're calculating or looking on a spreadsheet before hitting their shot. It takes forever, I have a life.  I can count on one hand the number of turn-based stroke play I have played in my life. And a four-ball to please a friend, it was exactly 1 and I almost fell asleep before playing 9 holes.  Again, I have a life. Playing stroke play to me seems about the same as those old folks in McDonald spending all their morning drinking coffee and chatting with others. I like chatting but far from a social butterfly with nothing else to do. It's your life and you enjoy turn-based, good for you. But you're in the minority, just like those folks in McDonald drinking coffee all morning.

And I can also tell you those starting stroke turn-based play on TW14 were waiting a long time, nobody wanted to play them. Because again, most people have a life.

I love this... you will always find people trying to game the system. To get every edge they can regardless of how ethical it is. It is just a sign of the world we live in.

And you are not wrong about some people measuring out every parameter, wind speed, elevation difference... yards to the hole... etc. That is why in 2K we turn everything off, the wind only shows the meter, no percentage loss or elevation difference. There is no aiming reticule to set your yardage..  and distance to the pin comes from your yardage book.

It is also why I play with a small group of friends, rather than in an online community. With online play I think you have to treat it like giving money to a street person.. don't have any expectations. Play because it felt good to do it... and don't be so concerned about the results. That's just your pride talking.

I see cheating even in my small group but they woukd take offense if you called them on it. How else can you explain if we play on SIM settings they shoot 10 strokes better... than we all agree to play on open settings that are more difficult than the SIM presets?

I wish EA would let us lockdown private room gameplay/visual settings individually like 2K.

Anyway you made me chuckle about the spreadsheet comment, I can see people trying to resolve a math problem when making a shot... 

"Hmmm... 5 yards for every mpg of wind under 8 then 8 yards for anything more... plus 3 yards for elevation difference... unless it is on a Sunday after 3 pm... or where the month ends with ber... and the year is an even number"

Hit the ball already.... RNG is going to nullify what you calculated.

I think we have all shot -10 on SIM...

I was referring to my group... if I leave the room options open and have a gentleman's agreement on how configure your settings his score is better by 10 strokes on average than if I use the SIM defaults. He aways complains he cannot read the greens in SIM mode... yet once we have an open room he starts dropping putts from everywhere... including long distances ones.

If I lock the room with the SIM presets I hear whining again.

AND we were testing if we could create turn play using a feature on the PS... and saw his screen with all the aids enabled. So yes... he was taking advantage of the situation. 

So now I lockdown the private rooms... even though I hate seeing the swing meter and grid lines in SIM mode.

ah now you admit.  Thats what it always boils down to and I agree. Thats really why some of you keep calling for sim mode and pretending thats what most people want to play.  But even YOU would prefer to play online if it was fair and sporting.     Thats why I'm playing 2k23 now it has a rating  and ranking system with various tiers to keep matches competitive.  And it seems to be full of players at all skill levels.   I'm having a blast.   Feels like the very early days of ea's pga tour before it got completely pwned.

They would be called a cheater of course if they always hit -10 consistently and winning tournaments with no competition as a hypothetical example because it simply would not feel human.  I myself would have to dumb down my character or stop playing the game because I would be embarrassed.     To be so consistently better than everyone else  would be like .001% of the population who go pro,   and to keep playing the game with no competition or players below their skill level is just not gratifying to a truly competitive player.   It would dull their skills and make them a worse player.   In real life they would garner a horrible reputation but wouldn't be able to remain anonymous or change face.  The anonymity in online gaming is why society is never going to respect e-sports in our life time.  There is no proof ever needed especially for those with good sports sense.      But that being said some measures could be put in place to help ensure more fair play and competitive matchups and thats what 2k23 has at least done and its why thats what everyone is playing.

I remembered when we were talking about revenue and investing on other posts. The same applies for online modes. Games like EA FC 24, UFC 5 and NBA 2K24 not only have the high revenues, but also robust online game modes. Even though I don’t play online modes, I watch YouTube videos on online gamers for NBA 2K24 to determine if a player is worth buying. From those videos, the posters mention that the enhanced enforcement on cheaters, rage quitters and someone equivalent to sandbaggers can be severe. That is what revenue can provide. EA PGA Tour does not have that revenue to provide an enhanced enforcement like in NBA 2K. In addition, golf is a way more slower paced game compared to Basketball, Football and MMA. Playing online in EA FC, UFC or NBA 2K will not make us like the folks in McDonald’s drinking coffee. I also need time to do some salsa dancing as well.

No... it appears you seem to have an issue comprehending the english language. I meany meant exactly what I said.

The game plays like an arcade game... in SIM mode I will average better than -5 if my player has skill points and specs assigned. Even as poor as the game plays... without I am closer to even par.

There are a segment of us that would like something that feels like we are actually having a golf experience.

But... to address your other comment. YES, I think we would all like to feel we are competing on an even playing field.

My post was about my specific group and how one individual will take advantage of the situation. But only because EA fails to let you control the parameters of a Private Match.

This isn't an issue in 2K23 because there is a lot more granularity in the settings.

I have no problem with people consistently shooting -10 in every event. In fact if they can do it consistently, they are probably that good. In EA PGA Tour golf it is not hard to go low... I am sure everyone has shot sub 59.

My point was... when I lockdown the settings so the only difference is that there is now a swing meter and a grid on the green. He shoots 10 strokes worse. You would think he would play better with the additional aids. NOW THAT MAKES IT PRETTY OBVIOUS!

As I have previously posted... there are always people that are going to try and game the system. You are never going to stop it. The best you can do is restrict where they can play.

Which is why Societies or Country Clubs in EA terminology are important. It allows usergroups to monitor their own communities and remove the riff raff.

I thought there was talk of Country Clubs being included in this during launch, but I haven't heard anything since.

I thought this would have tied in great with a full integration of Ryder Cup play between clubs.

But instead... no Country Clubs, and I have no idea what they were thinking about with how they rolled out their Ryder Cup play.

Imagine having two teams of players from two Country Clubs playing out the whole Ryder Cup format. And having your winning percentage on a leaderboard for you club with a minimum amount of matches played of course.

But alas, it was not meant to be.

as many have said,  and I feel the same.  I play worse when i go from tour to pro and have thea additional putting line aid.  I find it distracting.   So no, you're wrong.    And I don't believe you.  I think you have a huge problem with people shooting low scores because  people don't shoot such easy scores in real life.   Its why you want to keep making the game harder and harder.  You don't fool anyone bud.  You already admitted you don't want to play online cause you don't have any chance against anybody.  And that is simply how most people feel and I don't blame you.   The same people who are dominating this game now are the same who did 15 years ago.   But making the game more simlike is not going to change anything bud.   And even in real life nobody wants to go out golfing by themselves.    You have a couple people you play private matches with?  Good for you,  bu8t not everybody does so I think you are being selfish.   This is an e-sport and its all about how you compare to other players as the priority,  not how the game compares to real life,  which is an absurd never ending rabbit hole you want EA to go down.

It would be better if current game had similar options like TW series to change conditions. Even though not part of TW series, Turning ON/OFF RNG and lipouts could be a good start to make game better. It was something I have requested since Update 3.0.

I don't know where you think I can't compete online? I was barely playing, but with my character fully spec'd up on one play through I would finish either in the first or second group of every tournament I played.

And BUD making the environment more sim like doesn't make the game more easy for any one group. We all play under the same conditions.

I also don't feel I am being selfish, I am advocating for a group of players that where some playing conditions were not included in this game. Where the promotional product implied it would be.

I have never asked to change the game for those that like it as it is... just to provide a platform for those that don't have a place to enjoy this game.

very very interesting.  In another thread of people complaining about cheaters online,  you said thats why you only play private matches with friends.   But if you claim to be dominating online tournaments or match play,  well lets just say i'm not surprised.

The reason I have noone to play with,  is because firstly i play on the pc and EA has no CROSSPLAY.  one of things you have vehmently argued against on the forums for very strange mysterious reasons.   I'm noticing i'm one of the few even playing on pc in 2k23 but at least they have cross play so I have no shortage of people to play with.   Secondly,  the rreason why noone plays on the pc,  and why most of my friends and family don't even play consoles games online anymore,  is because there is so many cheaters and trolls that there is no point.  So its kind of ironic you claim to be feeding  a troll When I consider all your contradictive posts trolling EA to either push more people to 2k23 or because you just want the game to die out of spite.  I can't figure out which.

And I just have to say again,   to disregard people who don't have anyone to play in private matches with like you do,  is so selfish its utterly disgusting to me.  And EA catering to you people,  means they are getting what they deserve.   I think in the near future we will hear about EA sports filing for bankruptcy.  I still believe when they take the pc servers offline they owe some of us some money back.

No... I said I play with someone in my Private Group that would take advantage of the system if given the opportunity too. And I have said that there are people that will always look for every opportunity to get a leg up... however they can. I understand thst in life people will cheat.. so either you accept it or not. Am I happy about it... not really. But we we all decide what is acceptable to us. In my case I just create preset rooms now in EA. In 2K I can setup the room the way I want.

But if you claim to be dominating online tournaments or match play,  well lets just say i'm not surprised.

I didn't say I dominated anything. I said when I was playing tournaments for VC early in the games realease with a fully spec'd player I pretty much finished in the first 2 groups. With only one play through. Hardly a great achievement.

Rage quitting has nothing to do with the conditions of gameplay... it is because the people playing have poor sportsmanship... and feel winning is an entitlement. And giving the game a selection to enable a more SIM environment would absolutely lower scores, compared to an arcade experience.

If I had EA's ear I would be able to disable the aiming reticule, turn off all the windows in the screen and have an option to speed up the greens substantially.

I even argued I didn't see the point of 60 fps for a golf game. Okay I did ask for turned base play.... but I expected it to be implemented across the whole game.

I would think there are at least 4 people playing still on PC. Finding a few new friends shouldn't be an issue if there are so few of you. You would think people would be looking for people to play with.

I have never said I was against crossplay. What I have said is I don't see it as a priority because, there are inherent advantages for different platforms that make the playing field uneven.

I have no idea what you are spurting on about. Most of my comments are followed with suggestions on how to resolve the issue I am disappointed with. Compared to some that just rant that something is broken.

Absolutely agree. I prefer 2K because my shots are deadshot. I still miss all the old TW games. I would still take TW11 over the current Waste Management Mess.

The difference with 2K is that good execution is rewarded with good shots. As I have mention before 1% RNG would be welcomed by me in a game. Meaning a perfectly executed drive of 300 yards would have up to 3 yards of deviation. A 30 yard shot around a foot.

EA's RNG is heavy handed and poorly designed in this game.

Because controllers are so precise... the 2K swing model can be too accurate to represent real life play, but it is much better than EA's RNG.

As I mentioned on the putting subject, it looks like the more they're playing with coding, the more the game is broken. They played with RNG on pick, blast and finesse shots, now the circle for normal driving is half my screen and covering roughs on both side of the fairways.  No wonder they don't want rough to be too penal, the game would be unplayable for normal folks and casual players.

Easily the worst Arcade game EA has ever made. Making it as difficult as possible to hole out, taking top skill level out of the game. And if that's not enough, a finicky putting mode with weird cup physics. If RNG doesn't get you, lousy putting mode can make you lose a hole. And the putting line is just terrible, useless half the time and complete distraction. They should really bring back the old putt preview they used to have in the TW series.

The worse thing about current game is you cannot find means to mitigate or control RNG. This game set a bad precedence because other EA Games like Madden 24, NHL 24 and EA FC 24 have some form of RNG. In all of these games, my created player has passes getting intercepted easily. Good news is there are sliders. For Madden 24 and NHL 24, I need to set all accuracy sliders to 100 and RNG goes bye bye. EA FC 24 has no sliders for accuracy, but I can adjust speed and stamina of my own players and AI. For RNG to go away in EA FC, I max out speed of my players to run like Usain Bolt while minimize speed of AI to run like Melissa McCarthy. Luckily UFC 5 has no RNG. Unfortunately for current EA PGA Tour, we are stuck with it. I have made posts advocating for sliders to current game, but I was met with a whole lotta resistance.
