taking shots

I would rather take a lesser swing on a higher club than a full swing on a shot I don't want to take, i.e. say 157 yards to pins, default 9I wind the face, I would rather club up to an 8I and take less power, the last tiger game I played, it was like that... this under-swing/over-swing is stupid, and I've been saying that since the beginning of this game.....

Back to the original gripe.  What makes you think you can't do what you have described?  I do this every single round I play using finesse shot.  In fact, it's basically required in situations where the wind is in your face, you are within 150y to the green, and the green slopes toward you.   If you don't do what you are describing, your ball will often spin back waaaaay to far.

@7AnimalMotherYou are right, I really don't understand why he think he can't do this.

I think maybe it gets confusing because club power (the maximum distance a club can be hit) is not entirely determined by swing power (how far the club is traveling on a swing).  Instead, club power is determined by a combination of swing power and shot type, with shot type being the largest determining factor. For all shots you pretty much always want swing power at or close to 100%.

@7AnimalMotherI'm not ok with your point. I can always do an half swing.

Sure.  That said, doing that is always going to be less effective than changing the shot type and being around 100% swing .

I would agree with this statement, it is true of any sport. It is easier to replicate something near max effort than to finesse something inbetween.
