For me on PS5 there is controller vibration, but it seems to be for swing plane deviation rather than distance control.
I'm with you on all your issues, you would think that after so many years working on this Golf game that EA would have the best golf game ever...but they don't, i will never buy a EA game again, unless i play it first. i will keep playing 2K23.
There is no "full training" it is a joke, there is NO training, just puts you on course or hole, tells you what challenge is and that is it. no training, coaching no tutorial NOTHING. You have to figure it out yourself. Along with no mouse swing, no practice or shooting range, limited golfer customization(Face and such), leaning hard towards pay to win and a money sink. this is a VERY poor attempt at a full golf game. A lot of it is good, but there are HUGE pieces missing and lacking, Going back to 2k
No driving range or putting green? Really? I bought this game a couple hours ago, and I'm very disappointed. I purchased an EA Sports golf game every other year from 1999 to Rory. This will be my last.

I really don't think it should be but if this alone is enough to mean you no longer want the game then you are able to get a refund within the first 24 hours:

I agree it's disappointing there isn't a driving range and putting green though.

The omission of a mode specifically for working on your swing on your own terms is hard for me to understand. The challenge and coaching modes are structured and slow, and they don't allow you to freely and quickly take swing after swing for as long as you want. Repetition of the same motion over and over in practice is how you get good at a sport. Why did EA think it was acceptable to release a golf game in 2023 that doesn't have a driving range, putting range, or a course on which you can practice all the other types of shots at your leisure? This makes no sense!
I'm wondering if the random element in shotmaking has something to do with the lack of a practice range. In 2K's game, which is completely input-based, practice is useful. In EA's game, where the same input can lead to many different results, the devs may have decided too many people would get frustrated by the experience.
This idea that EA purposely did not include a practice range because everyone "would get frustrated by the experience" of random results is absurd.
Although there is no practice range, there are mulligans. It's pretty much the same thing.
Sadly, disappointing is a bit of an understatement. It's a golf game and there is no Driving Range.
There are several reasons this is an odd development decision, including but not limited to;
- Anyone new to the game or mechanics (which is everyone because the swing mechanic is new, and not explained, albeit relatively intuitive)
- The introduction of skill points, meaning you have larger play with forgiveness and error to get used to (which is even more punishing at the start because you start unskilled)
- The introduction of blueprints for clubs (all club varieties) meaning that these require or should require testing or checking when you buy them
You can argue that the challenges (perhaps naming them coaching challenges was meant to imply tutorial/learning) are there for learning, which they certainly do help with, but they teach only through repetition of error and not through advice or guidance - and there is nothing in game pointing you towards these challenges as a form of learning
Again I appreciate you can just load up a round of quick play - but that sort of just feels like a workaround, which shouldn't be necessary
A practice range would make this game even better.
+1 for driving range or get top golf involved. Not timed as a game just things to aim at. Similar to wgt, Short Game and putting green w multiple holes would be he vest. Us golfers love to hit balls over and over again easily.
