Bots infiltrating league tables?
I'll say right from the start that final league positions don't bother me. This is mainly because the league placement awards are pitifully low when compared to the streak rewards. (The ONLY thing worth getting is the Gems). Having said that I've become accustomed to finishing top of my Jade leagues over the past 6 plus months.
In that time I've had a few suspicions over whether or not there have been bots in some of my leagues. This is usually because I've found that they only seem to play while I am. I've purposely not played for a few hours, and their scores haven't changed. As soon as I earned some more crowns, then so did they. I varied my times for playing, yet no matter what times I became active so did they.
This week, however, I've been seeing what I'd classify as classic bot behavior in an opponent who's vying with me for first place. The thing is that up until Friday evening that opponent was in bottom place with only four crowns. (That, to me, translates to 'played four - lost four.'
On Saturday morning I was almost 250 crowns ahead of my closest opposition. By Saturday evening I was almost 400 crowns ahead.
On Sunday morning I found myself in second place by 53 crowns, but not to the opponent who had been in second place. I had been overhauled by the one who had been way down in last place.
That meant that overnight they'd accumulated over 1200 crowns!!
Though Sunday I would play a few matches at a time to bring myself within touching distance of my new opponent, but every time I got close they'd get around 15 crowns in the time it took me to get 5 until there was at least 30 crowns between us.
Throughout the day I'd not play for an hour or so, but keep my eye on the league table to see if their score changed. It didn't.
As soon as I started again, so would they. I'd win a match, but when I got back to the league table their score had jumped by at least 15 crowns.
I have yet to lose a match this week. I've now got 1630 crowns (326 straight wins). My opponent seems to be losing regularly, (An attempt to make them seem realistic??) yet still managing to get crowns way faster than me.
I tried playing a few matches on Turbo to shorten their duration, but the opponent STILL got more crowns than me in the same time period.
As I said at the start, league positions or awards mean little to me. My sole purpose in grinding as much as I do is to get plenty of seed packets to level up my plants as quickly as possible.
As such, having opposition displaying 'bot-like' behaviour doesn't bother me, but it could mean a lot to some other players.
Have any of you guys come up against league opposition that seems to know when you've started playing again, even before you've increased your crowns total? Either that, or they seem able to score crowns about two to three times faster than you?
