Cannot play event, again, still

Earlier I just added a “me too” to another player’s post.  Two days later, adding my own complaint re still not able to play the event because the Quests menu pops up automatically and cannot be closed. 
   In the past sometimes this resolves on its own in a day or so.  Still, almost every event of this sort I lose at least one day, often several, to this problem.
