Does Anyone Really Know What ShadowShroom Does?

Aside from appearing in a Pinata Party every 3 months or so, is this plant useful for any function at all. His powers remain elusive to me.

@linuxPigPen He acts cute but poison zombies~~~ good for hoard of zombies where you can just plantfood him and everyone gets poisoned...then the heads of the zombies dropped off~~~ 😛
