I can't think of a new seasonal plant that BS/MIP has not initially reacted to with "meh". Though I might agree with him on this one. Hambo just boloed the first challenge in the quest. Guess he should have watched the video.

If I want to farm gems I use a similar setup as @eieio_31310 but I let my mints get crushed by the Zomboss by planting them on the bottom row in front of him....so they are active the entire time. I have an active spearmint, Appease-mint, and Pepper-mint for the rest of the fight. It's hilarious.
Edit: this does not work on high difficult because of the mold.
I switched to BB instead of Zoybean
My thought was the more you damage/kill Zomboss, the more gems you get, but the gems come from killing zombies
In the screenshot ... the 8th gem dropped .... at the last second ... in a remote corner of the screen ... sniff sniff
This round I got 6 + 7 + 7 (+1 honorary) gems 🙂

Well...
USE ZOYBEAN + BB = TOTAL DEVASTATION!
Yes I use fire peashooter and bowling bulb with ZOYBEAN to deal damage to zomboss then devastate zombies... I just get 3-4 gems tho
And I'm on the spicy difficulty...
