Here is an article to answer a common question: How to recover your progress after a game update ?
This is a common issue that can happen after a game update, or if you play on a new device: sometimes when you log in, you are playing as a Guest and have to start over from the start, which is not ideal. From EA Forums, we can't assist with any missing content or progression unfortunately, but we can give you some advice!
Here is some (I hope) useful information and what to do if this happens to you.
- Firstly, and in any case, make sure to write down your player ID somewhere. Even if you never had any issue with your account previously. This is super important for our teams to locate your account if you ever get logged out or if you lose progression. Here's how to find your player ID:
- Select the wrench to open the Settings menu.
- In the Settings menu, tap:
- iOS: Download Preferences.
or - Android: Build Version.
- iOS: Download Preferences.
- You’ll see your Player ID under the game version.
- Make sure to link your account via Google Play or Game Center. This will ensure that no matter what happens, your progress is still linked to another platform, which will make things easier to recover your account. Note: If you have a child or underage account, you will not be able to link it to Google Play or Game Center, so definitely make sure you write down your player ID in a safe place.
- See if you are able to restore lost progress on your own if something happens. If you have linked your account previously, you might have been disconnected during a game update and all you need to do is simply log back into your account that you have previously linked.
- If you are completely locked and need extra help, get in touch with our advisors on EA Help. Here is how to proceed:
- Have any useful information ready with you, such as your player ID, EA account email, and any details regarding your linked accounts (for example your Google Play or Apple account email addresses)
- See if you can access email or live chat through this link
- Explain the situation to an advisor and they should be able to help you out restoring your progress.
I hope this will help you out if you ever lose your game progress. The most important piece of advice is to write down somewhere your player ID - do it right now! With this, even if you didn't link your account (which we still strongly encourage you to do), there will always be a way for the advisors to locate your original account, even if you are logged in as a guest.
