PvZ2 stuck in Restoring Purchases bug

For a number of weeks now, whenever PvZ 2 starts "Restoring Purchases", it gets stuck forever in this state and the only solution is to kill the game. More details below but read recent comments on Google Play, many people are reporting the same problem!

OS: Android 13

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S20

Region: UK

Build version: a:11.3.2 | d:0.0.0

PlayerID: 668E9CC5-455B-B205-87467F598A7B

Online?: It does not matter, this happens both when I am online and offline. Therefore it seems as if it's a client issue rather than a server issue.

How to reproduce: start the game and enter the shop. It will happen straight away. It also happens in other places where the game decides to "restore purchases".

What did I try?: Clearing cache, deleting and reinstalling, starting the game offline. None of this helps. 

Every once in a while (one time out of 30?) the game actually goes past "restoring purchases" and reports "failed". This might be a related issue, but in the vast majority of cases it gets stuck.

  • @kanerona problem seems to of been fixed with todays Pvz2 update in the play store (version 11.4.1) I couldn't access the store for over a month but now its working.

    I see Restoring Purchases for a couple seconds when accessing the store but it goes away, hopefully it's fixed for everyone.

    also since updating I can enter Adventure mode now and it no longer triggers the restoring purchases prompt.

  • Same here, and the only way to make it stop: is to kill the hole app.

    I cannot play the adventures, this comes up then as well: Restoring purchases.  Same if I try to enter the store. What I can do is play Arena mode and Penny's Pursuit. That s it. 

  • I forgot to add that this same problem (restoring purchases hang up bug) has continued for 2-3 weekend now. Getting real tired of it. And sad.

  • It can restart the game, but no difference if i access store / Adventure... 

    It will stuck again...

    @EA_Cath Sorry but this stock reply being posted on each of these complaints isn't good enough.
    This is a long standing bug that has been known to EA for years, I'm not exaggerating it is YEARS.
    Please can you tell us why hasn't this been dealt with before and what exactly is now being done to resolve it. I've been playing this game for a decade and spent money on it, there are hundreds of people like me who deserve a better update than this as it feels like we are being continually fobbed off.

    I am still looking forward to a proper fix. I am disappointed in EA who seems to have abandoned this game altogether, with no resource to look into a problem like this for months or even years, while all it takes is for a skilled developer to spend a bit of time (hour or two) looking into the code. The way to reproduce it is very clear, even if it does not happen on all accounts or devices, they may get some ideas just analysing the code, or get in touch with someone for whom it does happen.

    It's also interesting as it is not just "any" bug, it is a bug directly preventing people from spending money on the game (apart from just ruining the experience), so it should be at least a bit in EA's interest to fix it.

    Yaay! I can confirm the latest update to version 11.4.1 from the Play Store fixes the problem, although there is no mention about it in the release note.

    It still reports an "Error: Unable to complete purchase. Please try again", but at least goes past the "Restoring Purchases" animation and the game can finally be played like it used to be.

    Thank you EA, and I hope this thread will never have to be re-opened.

  • I also have not been able to buy anything for two years. Emailed several times, always get sent to the forum, which hasn't helped yet.
