@Lambsy65 Yes, we have tried the usual troubleshooting steps and it doesn't change anything. This is a problem on EA's side and they need to fix it.

Ditto! Un-install then re-install, turn off device, all updates done for game and device. Now I’m getting kicked out of Penny Pursuit challenge. This is beyond not being able to play the game, it’s frustrating.

Note: Please do not delete and reinstall the game as this will put your game account at risk of losing your game progress, even if you've linked your account.
If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to install the game application on a second device, or borrow a device with the game installed from a friend.
1)Attempt to play the game on your account on a friend’s device. It is very important you ensure you are logged into your account on another machine.
2)Attempt to play the game on a friend’s account on your own device.
The results of these checks should give us the information we need to pinpoint where exactly the issue is occurring and we will then be able to advise you on what steps to take next.
Once you have completed these tests, please get back and let us know how it goes.
I look forward to your reply.I am/was having the same issue on a first generation iPad Air IOS 12.5.4. I moved to a iPad 6th generation IOS 14.8 - no issues, am able to play Arena mode with Power Vine without issues. There definitely appears to be an issue with the older IOS versions.
I did try those troubleshooting steps. I tried playing on Android and it worked perfectly. There are two ways to solve this problem. a) Solve the problem that prevents us from playing on iOS in the first place or b) Allow us to transfer data to Android from iOS and continue playing there. I have tried other plant combos and even other stuff such as clearing up space. Nothing worked.
If that’s the case it’s not a device issue but the game itself. Dev should look into this asap. I deleted and re installed the game before I read that I should have not done this, At least I tried every possible way on my end to solve it.
Pvz2 is supposed to be able to run on both android and ios devices.
To install your account with your current progress onto a different device you need to have signed up to EA's email registration scheme and you install the game on your other device then ask for a unique code to be sent to your email address, enter it and it will copy your account from their backup.
As a precaution I suggest you screenshot your player id number first.

Shared, you can play on both devices.
I agree that it appears as though it is older devices that have an issue, but their information on the App Store says my iPad is supported. I am able to play on my newer iPhone, but it did crash once yesterday in Arena play.
@MAGICDAVESHROOMReading through Answers HQ I found a post by a PopCap community manager saying that the EA email backup only works between Android devices and there is no way to transfer data from iOS. This is from 2014 but I haven't found the EA email registration on iOS. Edit: I have found a guide on Reddit to enter PvZ 2's files and change the player ID to match your iOS player ID. This will apparently give you a duplicate and will sync your progress. So I guess there is no official way to sync both platforms.

Apparently there was a way to do this officially but EA removed it in 2019. I do not recommend following this guide I just put up here unless you know what you are doing. It's a very difficult process and requires root access.
- @rgyweijnrget67yd I would not recommend doing this if it's not official. i tried to do so and I wanted to link my icloud email to the android device but it ddin't even aaccept to use it the accept button was greyed oput on Android.
Tbh, this has mostly to do with some new plants liek solar Sage that had many impossible combos with other plants but some worked, here power vine doesn't work at all with anything so the issue must be with it itself and obviously on old ipads. Look at this event ending and they gonan force you to use another plant then it will be fine, but again if you unlock powervine and want to use it by yourself it will bring same issue over and over.
Popcap doesn't seem to acknowledge this issue for years now and I don't think any update will coem to solve this.
So unless they make the cloud save work on any mobile OS and device, and or release the game on PC or consoles so the risk opf having obsolete mobiles won't be a problem, the problem will always persist not only with our old ipads but with the current ipads and iphones that will be obsolete soon. It's like they are forcing us alongside Apple to pay again and upgrade each year which is not logical. @PLASTICA-MAN Turns out cloud save between both platforms was available a few years ago, until EA removed the option sometime in 2019. Also I was able to play just fine through the Power Vine epic quest. Same issues that I was having in Arena with Solar Tomato in last season, but in that case the problem was not with Solar Tomato itself, therefore I managed to isolate the plant family that was causing problems and managed to play through that one. In this case, I guess there is nothing more to do. I hope that there will be no problems in Electric Peashooter tournament. Arena practice is available on Sunday, I will test and see if it works.
I managed to play 2 practice arenas today but I cleared all my browsing history and I had to play it offline.
still not working in the arena- @Lambsy65 I hope there are no issues in the next tournament. Practice is available tomorrow and I will see if it works properly. Last time I had a similar glitch it cleared up the next tournament.
Just got another reply from EA but they are just wanting information again.

I just played the practice mode for the new challenge that starts tomorrow. Without the power vine being in the line up, I didn’t have any problem playing. I hope that holds true when the new challenge starts tomorrow. I also hope EA gets the problem resolved before we have the next challenge when we are required to use power vine again. I’ve tried the new practice battle arena also without the power vine and it’s worked for me too.
EA have been in touch and they are still looking in to the crashing of the power vine battle arena.
I have just played the new practice arena with the power vine and it has worked perfectly .
I am wondering if it’s an issue is just when it’s the new plant at the top of the grid that you can’t remove?
I played practice arena too, using the power vine and it played without a problem. So, I tried to play the arena power vine challenge and it crashed. Hopefully EA will figure out the problem and that it is on their end or we will have the problem again in a few weeks. I can play the game on my phone, but screen is so small and the game doesn’t transition well between two devices. I lose coins and other quirks.
Still the same issue, weeks later. But now the problem is happening more often. At this point, every other arena match is crashing to Home Screen and it’s maddening.
