When a business causes an issue for it’s customers, it’s well within the costumer's rights to request compensation for any difficulties that it may have caused.
It’s up to the business to decide if the requested compensation is appropriate and applicable.
(For clarity: It’s not up to the members of the community to decide if the requested compensation should be granted, as you have no formal connection with the business beyond being a customer.)
