I guess when you are playing in turbo mode (which I do), the clock counter does not seem to comply with Earth time and in the electric currant tournament I have noticed this plant refreshing time variations with my cherry bomb too, it takes between 27-33 seconds to refresh once I used it. That's is why I tried to use it before the 30s announcement so I can have a another use just before the game ends.
