We do not know when or even IF EA/popcap will fix bugs because this is a players forum and while EA devs occasionally check our posts, they do not usually provide answers.
Personally, on the few occasions that i used vamporcini, i found that it worked a lot better if i plantfooded them so they were permanently active.
I doubt that marigold will come back as she is only useful in creating coins in the zen garden and cannot be used to fight zombies and i think EA would prefer players needing coins to watch ads for coins instead.
