[Feedback] Improving Choose your Seeds
Hi, first off I wanna say that I love the new Choose your Seeds update. It has made the game a lot better. I am making this suggestion post though, because I think that it could be improved in various ways. I will list the current problems I have with it and possible solutions
1. The Survival Guide
I'm not a big fan of the survival guide. It doesn't feel very good, and feels a bit overwhelming with all the menu elements. You have to go out of your way to click a button to know what kinds of zombies are coming. In previous PvZ games, there wasn't a survival guide, but rather a view of the zombies on the right side of the screen, with the seed selection on the left.
This way was a lot more natural feeling, because when you are cooking a meal from a cookbook, you aren't closing the book everytime you do a step and open the book again to look at the next step.
The current survival guide in PvZ3 also shows you whether there will be other hazards or elements in the level, like water. PvZ2 added a button that was used to view the lawn, which was used for a similar purpose.
However, PvZ3's survival guide only tells you that these are in the level. You aren't able to pick your plants very well if you don't know whether the water covers the whole lane, is in a funny shape, in what direction the water surge goes, in what tiles you cannot plant on... and so on. It's a little bit annoying not being able to know this information.
So, I think you should change the seed selection screen to be more like the previous games. It would also allow for some consistency, which I think is very important.
2. The way to choose your seeds
Another problem with the seed selection screen is the way you access it. You get pre-selected plants, and you have to press a separate button if you want to change them. I think it would be way better if you were forced to pick your own plants upon pressing "Play" (except for the levels that don't allow you to, of course) and you didn't have the pre-selected ones. Players would feel good for finding the right combination of plants to beat a level, which is a feeling that I get in previous games (because that's the way it was done), but not in PvZ3.
3. Choose your Seeds is a feature, not a computer program
This one is a little bit minor, but it feels like the devs are treating this screen like a scary computer program. Why is it so disconnected from gameplay, as a separate button? (which sparked my other complaints) Why are there so many buttons, when the simple interface of previous games was already perfect? (assuming simplicity is what PvZ3 is going for)
If you wanted to remove a plant that you selected, you could simply tap on it, instead of the tiny X button. To know what a plant did, you selected it, and in PvZ2 it would show a basic description. PvZ1 for Android/iOS doesn't have this, but you had the Almanac (which PvZ3 still lacks), so you could always check it there.
Aside from all that I've said, there's not much wrong with Choose your Seeds. This feature is a great step in the right direction for the game, and I hope to see more good changes. Thank you for reading!
