The perk system improvements

I want to talk about the perks, what needs changing and what needs removing but before I do I’m gonna go over some QOL visual changes and qol stuff overall to consider for the game 

  • change the app icon every time we get a new word like PvZ 2 (not a must but it’s nice to have)

 

  • Popcap presents video just like the first two games when first start a new game 

 

  • All zombies made during the 2021-2024 era aka wtz and betas all need to be revamped to the same quality as the evolved zombies as they’re now fully 2D like the sewers zombies 

 

  • the logo should revert to how it was in 2021 it’s weird seeing PvZ 1 in it when it doesn’t match the art style

 

  • smooth out dangerines animations as they’re still choppy 

 

  • bonk choy , twin sunflower , tallnut need to be converted to 2D

that concludes this section onto the main section 

  • I’m going to split it in each tier starting from tier 1 but it’ll be pure fusions to save time 

 

  • tangle kelp perks
  • back up > new perk - kelp juice - surrounding kelps in a 3x3 get extra damage 

 

  • bop choy perks 
  • Back up > new perk deadly fist - when they’re close to death they will do one final attack before being eaten fully 

 

  • iceberg lettuce
  • back up > new perk - snow pile , once activated he will leave a pile of snow to boost ice plants and slow down zombies that walk on it , lasts for 10 seconds 

 

  • spikeweed 
  • back up > new perk - rapid thorns , if 2 or more zombies are in it’s space or two tiles ahead he deceases his attack speed by 0.25 seconds 

 

  • parting gift > new perk - devastating thorns , if 10 zombies get killed by spikeweed he will summon 5 tiles worth of thorns that go away in 15 seconds doing 5 damage per 0.25 seconds

 

  • potato mine
  • back up > new perk - nugget mine , once detonated he will summon a nugget mine that explodes on impact doing extra damage (if kept on the lawn it makes potato mine arm faster or if already armed he will increase potatoes damage) 

  • lime bomb 
  • parting gift > new perk acid puddle - after exploding it leaves an acid puddle that damages any zombie that walks on it especially sewer zombies and boosts acid plants

 

tier 2 plants 

  • wrangle kelp 
  • Heath seeker > new perk - lasso madness - has a chance of attacking zombies with one of their arms in a 3x3 area but does not lose an arm when it does this , chance is 5% 

 

  • ghosted > new perk - a kelps parting gift - for every arm it loses it can summon a permanent puddle that can be used for aquatic plants for their potential like how it is in water or for normal plants to have extra speed , puddle cap is 3 per kelp and randomised spots , if a camp zombie steps on it it may disappear 

 

  • Bonk choy 
  • magnetic > new perk - knock out - has a chance to completely knock a zombie onto the floor that may walk back to the right side of the lawn 

 

  • saw grass 
  • Ghosted > new perk - game over > after saw grass has successfully killed 10 zombies he sharpens his saw making the attack speed better , and has a chance to summon a saw that travels across its lane and once stopped it will focus on that zombie , if the saw loses its sharpness it needs to kill 10 zombies again but it will deal damage when in contact if no zombie stops it it travels across the lane for a few seconds 

 

  • winter greens
  • Isolated > new perk - the winters call  , if there’s no ice plants surrounding this plant for 10 seconds it can summon a small ice crystal that can still have plants on the same tile , this crystal can explode on impact dealing ice damage and bounce from zombie to zombie with its pieces , if the zombie is a special it will chill the zombie and will disappear if the plant that was gifted the ice crystal was destroyed 

 

  • devastater
  • Isolated > new perk - a war cry , if a zombie gets too close to devastater and there’s less than 5 surrounding it it will let out a war cry to slow them down for 2.5 seconds to have more zombies come into its area before detonating

 

  • gremonade 
  • Isolated > new perk - acidic aftermath , if a zombie isn’t killed by the acid from this plant the zombie enters in a sour like state they will be stunned for 2.5 seconds and if the zombie is defeated it will leave an acid puddle that boosts acid plants it can land anywhere on the lawn

 

  • tier 3 plants
  • Sun tower 
  • Inspiring > new perk - sunny fields , every 30 seconds nectar will start glowing around causing sunny fields in a 3x3 area this will let plants that have been dug up around it give you a 10% refund in sun , applies to t2/3s only and this will last 10 seconds 

 

  • explode OJ 
  • Cheerleader > new perk - pile of sap, after a plant is eaten or detonated it leaves a pile of sap containing 10 living saps , a sap is born every time an acid plant or mushroom is eaten to do some damage and leave the lawn, final sap will be bigger and have higher damage. These saps are also special they adapt to their fallen plants depending on the tier , the higher the tier the bigger compensation you get for the sap. 
    each sap has leaves amount matching to whatever they’re adapting to tier wise , tier 1 , 1 leaf , tier 2 , 2 leaves , tier 3 , 3 leaves , as shown below. 

     

  • inspiring > new perk - radioactive acid puddles , when the plant is destroyed or has donated it leaves 3 radioactive acid tiles if stepped on a zombie enters a sour like state suffering acid periodic damage additionally these tiles can infect zombies up to 3 and disappears after 15 seconds. 

  • mashed destruction 
  • Cheer leader > new perk - hot head , these potato mines inherit the anger and will be summoned once the plant has detonated , a hot head potato mine will explode doing damage if the zombie hasn’t fully died it gives them a periodic Burn damage for a few seconds , up to two can be summoned per detonation and cannot be merged. 

     



  • inspiring > new perk - a reward from a spud , if 10 or more zombies are detonated by a plant it will summon a pizzazling potato mine once this plant explodes it has a 2% chance of summoning a potato mine and has a diamond aura around it that speeds up arming time for other potato mines 
  • mega sunshroom
  • Cheerleader > new perk - a breath of life > after 5 mushrooms expires there will be a spore like aura that extends their life span by 20% and give them slightly higher toughness this is in a 5x5 area. 

  • Juggernut
  • Cheerleader > new perk - go nuts > after this plant has fallen in a 3x3 area it will leave a nutty aura , every time a nut gets eaten the next one planted gets a 5% in toughness , this scales in different tiers as well , 10% for tier 2 and 20% for tier 3 , the aura lasts 10 seconds 

 

  • mangle kelp 
  • Cheerleader > new perk - creature from the depths > after most attacks are used it will enter enraged mode and grab a zombie holding it down for 5 seconds doing periodic damage over time and can be attacked by other plants for a quicker death 

  • inspiration > new perk, Algae infestation 
  • Every time a laso attack is used a grid item kelp ball is thrown randomly on the lawn if a zombie steps on if it stuns them for 5 seconds and will disappear if a zombie frees them before the duration is over if an amphibian plant is planted on it, it will give them a boost. 

  • freezar salad 
  • Inspiring > new perk - icy tundra , if 5 or more zombies appear in one lane where this plant is , an icy tundra will appear chilling up to 5 for a few seconds. 
  • Cheerleader > new perk - snowballs , if 7 or more cheese blocks or zombies appear in a lawn a snow ball will be created and bounce across. 

  • Chainsaw grass 
  • inspiring > spiky death traps > if more than 5 zombies encounter any type of spikeweed a spiky death trap is activated , this can destroy an object once and stun a zombie for 1 second they disappear after 15 seconds. 

  • beat choy 
  • Inspiring > new perk - slam , if a plant is overwhelmed a slam will occur causing over the head knock back and stun for 1 second , cool down 15 seconds. 

  • that finally concludes my perk feed back please give it a good read these perks have potential but it’s not being shown I hope these give you a good idea on how fun they can be

    The perks really need to have more of an identity

    the leveling system should be based solely on them too
