What could fix the issues of Plants vs. Zombies 3.
So, I have thought about the gameplay of Plants vs. Zombies 3, and maybe these suggestions could make it the best sequel it could be. I have posted this to Reddit and now Fandom, so I will copy and paste, with more explanation.
- Removal of mobile game elements: I understand that PvZ 3 is a mobile game like its predecessor, but unlike PvZ 2, it WANTS to be a mobile game. Because I know we don't like some of the features, I would do these three things: Remove lives and energy systems, do not include merging, and get a proper main menu. The reasons why I want those removed is because those are the problems the community has. Adding lives and or energy causes damage to games, as losing or playing in-general will make you unable to play and I'm not trying to be rude, but I hate the concept of lives and energy systems in games. Merging itself ruins the strategic element of the games, as what makes PvZ special is the strengths and weaknesses of your defense and it also doesn't make sense for a sequel have that if you think about it (especially since the plot is rebuilding Neighborville). And going from 2 to 3 kind of feels like whiplash compared to going from 1 to 2, so, to not feel like this is some other mobile game you see on market, it'll have a menu screen that isn't the game itself. However, I won't change anything about the Homescapes-like gameplay. It's trying to be unique, and honestly, it's good to keep.
- Replayable levels: So, I watched gameplay footage and noticed a lack of replayability of finished levels, which is annoying. PvZ 1 allows you to play Adventure all over again, which is known as Adventure 2, which allows you to play harder versions of the original levels with the Crazy Dave mechanic to keep things interesting, and the mobile versions have the ability to replay levels in the form of Quick Play, which later got built into the new mobile version's Adventure, while 2 already had the system in built in to begin with. Maybe if you can replay levels you've beaten, it'll make the game better, and maybe adding additional harder levels and an endless mode would be fun too.
- An almanac: PvZ 1, 2 and the cancelled version of 3 had an Almanac, which tells you information about said plant or zombie, so if you gained an Almanac in 3, it'll help you understand a plant or zombie well, like how Snow Pea is weaker in this game. This could also slow down the handholding from the game.
I wish you guys well, and I hope this will end up in the game because I hope the game will be the best it could be.
