Acorn Tips?

Does anybody have any tips for playing Acorn? I've read a lot of threads saying he's such a good character but I can't hit anything when I play him! The hit marker seems so unnatural to me. Almost like I have to drag ahead of the target to get a hit. I've been destroyed by acorn players before, but I myself, am bad.

I must be doing something wrong. Thoughts? Guides perhaps? :o

  • I remember playing Picnic and struggling with Acorn until I started leading my shots.  Acorn’s bullets appear to be hitscan but there’s quite a trajectory to them.

Shoot your opponent until the second they return fire and then dash a random direction (to throw off enemy aim) and start shooting the second your dash ends.  Mix in Sap Trap with this method and you’ll find it’s EASY to frag most people.

Many people bunny hop with this character but good aim and clever countering mixed with Sap Trap negates the need to hop.

I’m sure I have a few videos of Acorn gameplay.  If I have time today, I’ll upload a video-two for ya.

EDIT: MAKE yourself practice with primary fire ONLY until you learn the projectile’s (bullet) path.  Go to PvE, if you don’t want to be mowed down in PvP while learning.

  • Also, in battle arena, it’s good to have health regen increase, health regen timer reduction, and hardness, this way you can play aggressively with oak, and make a quick escape and regen back to max health quickly with acorn

  • @Shinobicap I normally use hip fire, because people seem to love rushing me whenever I go back into an acorn, and it would be hard to hit people bunny hopping and rushing towards you, while dodging their attacks at the same time if you were zoomed in 🤣 In addition to that, your sensitivity decreases greatly, and it would be impossible to attack people close to you! Although if people AREN'T rushing you, I would prefer zoomed for max accuracy, since you don’t have to dodge attacks and you aren’t being pressured by the enemy! In most cases you have minimal movement while being zoomed in, so you would be a VERY easy target, and would be able to die in a second! So if you wanna zoom in, make sure you won’t be an easy target.

Long story short: hip fire is good for people rushing you or other close range combat, but zoomed is much better in passive scenarios, where no one can quickly finish you, it’s great if you have some cover to protect yourself from damage, or if the enemy isn’t focused on you. it can also much better for chipping tons of damage with max accuracy!
  • @Shinobicap Yep that’s what I use for battle arena, it’s great for making a quick escape and regenerating health instantly after taking heavy hits with oak, however, for turf takeover and etc, I would prefer upgrades that bring total chaos
  • @Shinobicap  Yep, @Ninja2Blade  nailed it.  Based on distance and angles. I’ll use hip fire or ADS.

Use him (Acorn) often and you’ll learn where your natural aiming strengths and weaknesses fall.  If you miss with hip fire in a certain situation, try ADS and vice versa.  You’ll eventually get the knack of his aiming.

Don’t forget to try different aim assist settings, too.

I use the same upgrade kit as you.

I have two extra tips for you.

Firstly, try using sap trap as a finisher. More or less, use it to quickly kill a weakened enemy that you have lowered. It does 65 on direct and very close range so try to gauge what health the enemy's health is to try and finish them off.

Secondly, try using sap trap and acorn dash together. This is a little awkward to do first, but it is surprisingly efficient! If you want to get onto high ground or go above the enemy, shoot the sap trap at the ground, then position yourself in the direction you want to go. Next, jump and activate sap trap. Quickly, use Acorn Dash in the direction you want. This sounds confusing, but once you try to nail this down, it is very strong. You can not only quickly flank the enemy, but traverse to high ground as well. Just as a note, executing this tip is somewhat challenging at first and needs to be properly done. It is a relatively fast maneuver.

I hope you can improve with Acorn!
