Am i the only one who despises 8v8 gamemodes and maps?

I really dislike 8v8 and its maps as it feels very claustraphobic design wise, the fact that most of them are from the pve areas leading to a feeling of repetition, and even with the faster pace of sprinting it feels like games grind to a halt in some areas due to the lower amount of players for vanquishing, before bots I literally ran around the map looking for other players to fight in suburbination games.

On the subject of bots their ai here is really bad as I've seen them get stuck on cars and boxes and yet they keep shooting in one direction at their opponent when they detect someone.

The invisble barriers of where I can and can't climb up for a advantage higher than the ceiling of a one story house is very rampant and anything above that offers little advantage in combat and just opens you up to getting shot from multiple sides as i mentioned in a previous post about map verticality.

The gimmicks aren't really fun or anything to write home about besides oozevoir which isnt really a good map.

I really hope the design of these maps gets better down the line after the mediocrity that was oozevoir, but that probably won't happen with how much they want to cater to turf fans.

  • @stukapooka When I decide to play BFN, I typically don't play any game mode besides Turf. Turf gives me the most opportunity for XP, due to it lasting longer and having more people. However, I have played the other modes enough through weekly modes and the occasional Mixed Mode or TV game.

I think one weekly mode should be Team Vanquish but with 12v12. This would be an experiment, so Popcap and us can see if it is a good idea. It would be called Oops Too Many Players similar to the Battle Arena Team Vanquish mode we had once. They can also have a Mixed Mode version of this to test as well. I think this would be healthy to try before implementing.

In my opinion, the 8v8 maps are big enough to hold a 12v12. Some maps might not take to this too well, but it could actually force players into the parts of the map that are never or rarely used. Additionally, it would bring many players to this mode as it offers more people to get XP from and there is more chaos and havoc, possibly fixing a problem with dead lobbies and bot matches.
