Are plants at a disadvantage against zombies?

I have been playing Garden Warfare since day one, I am slowly climbing the skills ladder. I love this game. It is very well conceived, beautifully designed, and beats the gigantic glut of MURDER GAMES out there. I play as a Chomper almost exclusively. The nature of being a Chomper is that of a close proximity attacker. Chompers are the only character that can't keep a distance from a melee. It's hand to hand combat, I get vanquished a lot. After I do the vanquishing, it takes considerable time to recover. It leaves you open to any zombie in close proximity. It seems a little unfair that a character, forced into close contact fighting, gets temporarily impeded. I usually get vanquished with one hit, and if I don't I am stunned into being a sitting duck.

I suppose, I will learn to live with the disadvantage. I could play another character. I just don't want to. The real point of this post. To me, the zombies have a distinct advantage over plants. A good majority of the sessions I engage in are plant blood baths ( or perhaps chlorophyl baths). The nature of having to defend a position, from a horde of attackers is inherently lopsided in GW. It is usually not a position of strength. In the real world, being the defender can oftem have great advantages. In the real world, a position that is higher than the attacking throngs is paramount. The choice of a positionwhich limits attack from all sides is optimal. In GW, the gardens are in the open most of the time. I have been in plenty of games where the zombies simply overwhelm the plants. I understand that when a zombie gets vanquished, his distance to travel back to the garden is a longer trek than plants. With a reasonably guarded transporter, the plants are sitting ducks. Zombies gather close to the transporter and then swarm into the garden. Many times they do this in the last seconds of the sessions. If a zombie is vanquished he can return to battle easily enough through the transporter. There are other advantages I see. I won't address them here, now. Wouldn't it be great if the plants had a choice where to take their stand. Most gardens have little to no cover.

Is it possible that the plants just are not as organized as the zombies seemingly are? In a multi-player game, the program itself, gathers all kinds of statistics. Some of the "Cool Stats" are displayed. Others show up in your profile, for instance. Many others are unseen by the gamer. I would proffer that these stats would paint a story that would justify some of my claims. Look into it EA/Pop Cap! I know you gather those **bleep** statistics for a reason. That is what might be called game management.

So... Is it me. Do I not have a firm grasp of the game? Are the gamers, taking the form of plants less organized than zombie groups? Sessions that are victories for plants, seem to be against zombies that haven't received their newsletter explaining the "overwhelm by transporter" technique. Why don't plants have a similar tool?

And... Yes... I am completely aware that PVZGW would not be PVZGW unless the plants were defending their garden from attacking zombies. It wouldn't really be the same game then.

I'm asking. I don't really know. It's just my perception of the situation.

Are the zombie's set of tools better than plants?

I post this because, it becomes really disheartening to jump into a session and be swarmed upon. The plants don't seem to have a chance at times. It wouldn't be worth complaining about, but I can jump into quite a few sessions in a row( a dozen), with the same result. The incidence of this happening seems quite good. I see it more and more. I would love to see stats on zombie wins vs plants wins. I would like to see those the cumulative total, since game inception.

I know that I am opening the door to a flame fest. I am genuinely curious what others think. I don't see plants having nearly the organized attack plan as zombies do. Did I miss my newsletter. Am I missing a plant "war-room" planning meeting? Or, on the other hand, are the plants at some measure of disadvantage?

My 2 cents. Commence flaming.

Plants don't aren't the ones to blame for being at a disadvantage, blame the people that camp 24/7. 9/10 times, plants are extremely vulnerable to flank attacks, and high dps moves because most plants leave themselves wide open for a direct attack.

The key to getting a more decent defence is to never sit where most people sit at to defend the garden. In other words, never go to the usual spots where most plants are at (Example: On top off the castle in Driftwood Shores or the burger in Main Street). It's fine to stay there for a good kill or two, but don't stay there too long. Furthermore, don't start camping near the garden at the beginning of the round either; instead, move up to further delay the chances of zombies capturing the garden. If one zombie gets into your garden, don't send everyone into the garden. If you know there are people close to the garden that can defend the garden decently then don't worry about it (which is about 4/10 times you find people that are good at defending a garden while near it as well...).

Also, switch characters in between rounds. Some plants are MUCH more stronger on certain areas depending on your play style of course. Also, don't be scared to be someone different in the plant team. If the plant team is all peashooters, then switch out because the more diversity the better because a team of long range Foot Solider variants with a few other zombies can totally dominate a team of peashooters.

Beware of the timer too. There will be times where the zombies capture the garden with little time left. Once it reaches 30 seconds, somehow the zombies are able to say "yolo" in their heads and they all run towards your garden. Think of this like the final wave like in every Plant vs Zombies game. To prevent this, make sure there are no flank routes where the zombies can run through and retreat to the garden if your a Peashooter and get ready to chili bean bomb whatever group of zombies that are entering/in your garden.

All in all, the plants are equal against the zombies it's just how you use them.
