1. Disable the Origin in-game Overlay in the Origin Launcher

3. Run Origin and Plants vs Zombies as Administrator

4. Uninstall/Reinstall Origin: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/

5. Clean Boot: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

6. Do a clean Uninstall/Reinstall of your latest Graphics Drivers: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

7. Uninstall/Reinstall Plants vs Zombies Battle of Neighborville

@iluminatethesky I tried them all and it still isn't working. I ran it as admin but the closest I got was a screen on the top left of my monitor but once I click it, same thing (black screen) happens again

i was having the same problem today i updated my drivers and now i cant open overwatch as well. i haven't tried other games but the problem is spreading with the update and now it says i cant do back to the older one. i had previously talked to 3 ea help people doing 3 different things which did nothing. please help

Luckily i have a fix which works for me, check your Services for "AsusGameFirstService" and disable it.

The ASUS service seems to conflict with a lot of EA games for me. 

If this doesn't work, the next thing I'd recommend is to stop all the 'Unnecessary services' that are running in the background that you don't need running, and try running PvZ again.

@BlockHed665  Does that help you get rid of the black screen?

The PvZ team is aware of an issue with the screen going black and is currently tracked on the Trello board.

@EA_Blueberry I bought the game yesterday and am having the same problem. I've followed all of the above advice, and nothing has worked.

With a clean install of both Origin and PvZ BfN everything works perfectly. Then I close the game, try to open, and get the black screen. CPU sits around 95%, disk usage starts high and then disappears after a few minutes. It will only launch on a clean install once, I've tried it twice now.

Here is the Solution :💡

Solution 1 :

a. Close origin properly.

b. start the game with admin permission ( If  not work then close the game with task manager and again run with admin permission)

c. Do this until a white screen with popcap not shown.

Solution 2 :

a. Go to temp folder and then backward to local where origin folder remain. [ RUN then  %temp% then local ]

b. Cut & paste the origin folder to any other folder. [ Only cache delete do not help anymore ]

c. Restart origin & play.

Solution 3 :

Everytime deleting origin folder so buggy.

So go to origin and at  1st repair and update the game then play. { This solution doesn't work every time but 1st solution work }
