can't launch PvZ Heroes

So I've been greatly looking forward to the Set 2 update and even got a nice, moderately powerful refurbished Asus Zenfone 2 looking forward to having a great experience once the update dropped. The game ran flawlessly with the previous app version (1.14), however, since accepting the update (1.16) last week I haven't been able to launch the game at all and I'm losing a lot of progress as a result. I've tried all the usual fixes - clear cache, clear game data, uninstalled and reinstalled app... No dice. I even went as far as wiping my phone, reinstalling my software from scratch and trying again and still had no success. Any help from any player or the EA Dev team would be greatly appreciated.

Have you submitted a help ticket with EA?  Also, is the Asus Zenfone on their approved list of devices?  Lots of people are having issues with the 1.16 update unfortunately.  Other threads in this section of the forum.

Well, it's definitely not ideal but I managed to figure out a workaround while EA hopefully fixes it for the next version. It seems the problem is that the apk was compiled with incomplete x86 libs and since our phone uses the x86 architecture, it results in the app not loading the required libs on our phone. So for now, my workaround was to extract the apk with a file manager and delete the incomplete x86 folder in the "Libs" folder. You can use google to assist you with the process. The only issue now is that I can't sign into Google Play but since I have my data synced with my ea account, I just use that method to maintain my progress. Hope that helps a bit as far as a temporary fix goes

For the last damn time, I've already done all that. If you read my post before, you'll see that the problem is that this version of the app was compiled with incomplete x86 support. I even went as far as factory resetting my phone to get it working and that didn't work. The only way I was able to resume playing again was by decompiling the apk, deleting the incomplete x86 libs and having the phone treat the apk strick as an ARM apk. Even that is just a temporary fix because I can only sync via my EA account when using that method as Google Play Games sync requires the x86 libs which I no longer have. The problem is not our phones. It's the APK from EA that needs to be updated with x86 libs.

it is really weird, because i use zenfone 2 with 4GB RAM and it run smoothly

  • I don't know if this is the best place to report bugs like this, but recently I wanted to try this game again and found that the latest version (1.24.6) won't launch on x86 android devices running newer versions of Android (mine is on 7.1.2), it will crash before even reaching a loading screen.

This is because of an extra /lib/x86 folder in the APK that shouldn't be there, I managed to get the game to work for myself by removing it but it would be nice if this could be fixed with an official update.
