When it comes to just playing for fun my roster normally includes All-Star and Scientist for zombies & Pea and Chomper for plants.
Getting down to specifics I enjoy Goalie Star, Tennis Star and Cricket Star. (Fast rate of fire on All-star is great but freezing people is a lot of fun too.) For scientist, I got an appreciation for Chemist in GW1 and it holds in GW2. I also like Astronaut (how original of me) and Marine Biologist. A favorite move of mine is to warp in get the vanquish and warp away to heal. (Learned that from challenges in GW1) I also bring out Toxic Brainz occasionally if I want to melee for awhile. (Why just melee when you can melee and be rewarded?)
On the plants I tend to use Ice Pea and Toxic Pea. (Old friends from GW1.) I also will use Agent Pea if I want to do a secret mission. (Teleporter destroying, assassinating people with kill streaks or campers.) My favorite chompers are bite ones, Hot Rod Chomper (big surprise) and Count Chompula. A sneaky chomper is a successful chomper, eat stragglers and profit. (I find breath chompers not as effective.) On the off chance I feel like tanking (Or being mercilessly shot at) I dust off Ice Citron and Torchwood.
I've said it before, but the freedom of being max rank brought back some life to the game. I can't help it if, for every 10 variants I only really like 1. Most of reaching max rank was boring or worse, frustrating. So, I'm glad to be back to old favorites, many of which I got an appreciation for in GW1. (Often due to challenges.)
I bounce around all over when not filling a need for a boss hunt where I tend to be a sunflower or scientist since heals are so useful. Some of my favorites include the Skytrooper (love the extreme rate of fire on his weapon, it has a satisfying 'zzzippp!' sound), the Plumber (firing plungers has a certain Dalek appeal for Doctor Who fans like me in a silly way), the Party Imp (LOVE his music), and Stuffy Flower (firing rainbows at zombies is too amusing).
I also actually like Captain Squawk even with his problems since I love the weapon and I have that robot bird hat on his head!
