Do the character pieces carry over from the first game to the next?

So I've been trying to unlock as many plants and zombies as possible, but lately, I've been wondering whether the pieces of a character that is not completed yet will carry over to the new PvZ GW 2 g...

Only fully-unlocked characters transfer over, incomplete ones won't.

This is incorrect, incomplete character pieces do transfer over.

Thanks for correcting me, I hadn't heard of any cases of half-complete characters transferring.
