Don't disregard Butter Beacon!

I think it's caught on better now than at first when people were unhappy about losing butter barrage, but I've found Butter Beacon to be very useful, especially when specced for it or with the legendary upgrade.

Firstly, tactical intelligence should never be looked down upon. It doesn't last that long, but being able to see enemies, especially behind cover, is invaluable. Being able to see that space station around the corner is far better than being surprised by it, giving you time to prepare or get out of the way. With the change making the zombies show up purple, they stand out from the yellow aura more obviously which makes it slightly more useful too.

Secondly, it increases the damage Kernel Corn causes with all other attacks. You get a 17 point crit with the shogun guard upgrade with butter beacon. It also helps husk hop and shuck shot which can be a lot of extra damage. It's very handy against bosses.

Thirdly, while I loved butter barrage, it could hit overhead obstacles, even if you tried to avoid being near them, the path the plane took to drop them meant the butter left in an arc and could stuff you weren't prepared for, sometimes causing no damage to the intended target. I think this may be one of the reasons it was changed in BfN, it allows them to have more roofs on buildings too as they no longer have to worry about the planes above dropping butter through holes in ceilings.

I'd say to use that butter! I mean popcorn is much better with butter anyway!

  • I agree, butter beacon is such an underrated tool and a lot of people sleep on it. Though I feel the duration could be a tad longer in my opinion. To add to your point on why it replaced butter barrage. I think butter beacon really helps in giving his kit more synergy and cohesion because in gw2, his kit felt very button mashy.

  • @Iron_Guard8 I absolutely agree with this and I knew it before everyone else. Can I say it? I hate Shogun Guard, at first, i thought that would love it, because it looked like Commando was coming back, but I was wrong. He is just a worse version of an already bad character that is Kernel: his accuracy and projectile hitbox are really bad and the shield is very laggy to deploy and annoying to use, not only that but the upgrade costs 5 of your 7 upgrade points.

I really think Kernel is bad in his current state, but Butter Beacon do it's job with his upgrades, and with those he becomes a vision support, Wich is REALLY good in 12v12.
