Engineer - How to play and some tricks

I don't see very much people playing as engineer lately. I personally like the class a lot and always tried to master the Engineer. Here are some tips and tricks I have for you guys, hope you like it.

-Use the big bolt blaster wisely! If you just run into the garden and start firing, you will deal much damage but also you'll be the number one target. It is much more helpful if you position yourself close to the garden with cover nearby, keep the plants under control and wait for more Zombies.

-Don't simply run to the Teleporter! Okay, that's sounding a bit weird, but you won't help the team with rushing to the Teleporter. Wait for a scientist and face the Teleporter guardians, which will possibly waiting for you. If not, watch out for Cacti.

-Build the defender bots! If you are the only Engineer, it is very useful to take the time and build at least two of the defender bots. If the plants will have enough time, they will maybe attack the Teleporter. The bots are able to keep them busy for a minute or at least 30 seconds, so they're giving you and other Zombies enough time to strike back and defend the Teleporter.

-Don't underestimate your weapon! If you catch a Plant by surprise, you will most likely win the fight with any Engineer. The standart Engineer can deal about 400 damage with his Concrete Launcher, which is more than most of the Soldiers. I really liked the Mechanic and also the quite infamous Landscaper, because you can deal very much damage in very little time. Don't just run away when you see a Citron or whatever, put up a fight and you will win!

  • Another tactic which one should bear in mind is that with the exception of the Mechanic the Engineer class deals Splash damage.

While it is always worth your time and effort to go for the direct hit, which will be a critical hit, sometimes the tactic which benefits the team the most, especially when Zombies are the assault team,  is for the Engineer to stand off at a distance and simply lob shots into the Garden in order to deal Splash damage to anything in it. This is incredibly useful at clearing Potato Mines, Spike Weed and other traps or obstructions like Tallnuts but it will also damage groups of Plants or Potted Plants which might be relatively close by as well as scoring the occasional direct hit on a defender.

Sometimes the chaos caused by an Electrician or Welder standing at a good distance away sending indirect fire into the capture point dealing electric or fire Splash damage can be what breaks a heavy Plant defense.
