Engineer V.S Peashooter

Engineer V.S Peashooter

Engineer and peashooter have very similar primaries, their primary deals splash damage and has a low fire rate. The Peashooter’s pea cannon deals 34 damage with a direct hit, and 14 splash damage, while the engineer’s concrete launcher deals 36 damage for a direct hit, and 22 damage for splash. While the engineer's concrete launcher does deal more damage for a direct hit and for splash damage than a peashooter, his shots are much harder to hit. The concrete launcher can only be used for close range and sometimes medium range combat since his shots fall to the floor quickly. Engineer shots do bounce when touching the floor , making him able to shoot an enemy hiding behind a wall by bouncing it. Peashooter doesn’t have this problem because his pea cannon travels at very high speeds, making him suitable for medium ranged and long ranged combat. In this round, I give the point to the peashooter’s pea cannon  for being more suitable for longer ranges, and being easier to aim.

Pea Suped V.S Heavy Helper & Double Time

Although this is a 1 vs 2 comparison, they have similar traits and the actions these abilities have. Firstly, Double Time and Pea Suped. Both give a speed boost to both walking and sprinting speed. Engineer has to place his Double Time on a surface compatible with as in the ground does not cause the Double Time to cancel and not be placed down. However, he has a greater speed boost than Pea Suped. I am pretty sure that it is around a 25-30% increase similar to Hard Target. Additionally, once the Double Time is placed, any teammate can also use it to escape. Pea Suped does not need environmental conditions to activate, but it only activates for Peashooter. In addition to this, Peashooter is able to jump way higher and hover. This gives Peashooter a boost to Strafing, Bunny-hopping, and Dodging other abilities, allowing him to take on engagements he probably would have lost to. I am going to give a half-point to both Engineer and Peashooter for this as both perform their jobs just fine and give both characters an extra tool to run away with or fight with.

The deciding last half-point will be between the Heavy Helper and Pea Suped.  Peashooter only needs to activate the ability to get his rate of fire boost. It is only a small amount, but it lowers his TTK, meaning that he kills faster while retaining the boost to strafing, bunnyhopping, etc. Engineer has to place his turret down to get his boost, and if the turret is destroyed then he can not get his boost. To make up for it, his rate of fire boost is higher than Peashooter’s boost and he gets unlimited ammo plus he does not need to reload. I believe that Engineer is better as having unlimited ammo and not needing to reload is huge cand truly makes him such a menace as a character. The other half-point goes to the Engineer.

Conclusion

Peashooter wins with a matchup of 1 ½ points to ½ points. I have probably made mistakes in spelling and many other things, if you find a mistake please feel free to reply and tell me what the mistake was and where it is. A MASSIVE SHOUTOUT TO @SundropDot FOR HELPING ME MAKE THIS COMPARISON! He will now be helping me make my future comparisons! He is the only reason I could make a comparison today, without him I couldn't have pulled through and done it! (I posted on my forums that I didnt feel to good today) Thank you for all the support on this series!

  • @GodlyGamerBEAST Okay please don’t take this as Offence as this is both just my my opinion and 1 persons opinion doesn’t matter.

I understand that much time has gone into comparing Plants against Zombies but you cannot call this a comparison when you only cover 1 or 2 points with 2 completely different roles.

As I say this is just my opinion and I am just being honest. But otherwise I do appreciate you taking the time out of you day to do, I just feel like they could be better (not that I’m going to do it.

@TreesanityI agree with your point that we can't really compare them too much. One is an offensive character and the other is support, but the point of this is to compare weapons and abilities, not exactly their class. The reason it includes how much it benefits is to give people an idea of what kinds of abilities do the same job for the most part. Take it less as this character is better than the other, and more so the comparison of individual weapons and abilities. If we compared the entire kit, then it would be a different story. Great point though.

  • @GodlyGamerBEAST If I were you, I would've done Kernel Corn vs Foot Soldier, Peashooter vs 80's Action Hero, Chomper vs Superbrainz, Night Cap vs Imp, Snapdragon vs Electric Slide and Rose vs Engineer. It doesn't make sense how you're leaning into comparisons for two completely different roles.

@Joseph2004045 Thanks for the feedback. We were planning with some of those actually. As I stated before in this thread it is less of a role comparison but a weapon and ability comparison. I think the title is a little misleading.
