Game Crashes

I've been playing the game since it was released on PC and am max rank now, but yesterday after Origin updated the game crashes righta way when I start it.

I tried un-installing the game and Origin, but no luck.  Before I had the game in windowed mode and I could see the error occuring, but the game goes into full screen and its just a blank black screen.  I have to hit the windows key on my keyboard just to get back to my desktop.

  • Same issue.  Uninstalled and reinstalled PVC and was able to play last night.  Crash returned today.

Updated drivers, uninstalled, reinstalled again and still the same.

igo64.dll is an EA Origin file.

Try uninstalling Origin and reinstalling it.  Run it as Administrator.

  • Ran another Driver change out using the link you provided earlier and it appears to be up and running again.

Thanks for your posts and I hope this time the driver update fixes things for more than a day! If not I will update the igo64.dll file as suggested.

  • So I finally got the game to run again and it wasn't easy.

First I had to download "Display Driver Uninstaller" to remove every trace of my AMD drivers.  It also removes drivers for other video card types.  Download at your own risk.  Then I re-installed it from the website in the link above.  I also re-installed Direct X in the PVZ folder.

Now my problem is my analog doesn't work on my controller so I still can't play ☹️, but I want to thank everyone for the quick responses.

    What kind of controller?

There may be settings in Devices & Printers you can switch over.

I spent about 20 seconds testing a controller because I play with Keyboard/Mouse.. but I used PS3 controllers using the Xbox360 driverset and it worked as expected (as far as the computer was concerned it was seeing an Xbox360 controller).. I didn't test with the several other ways to hook up a ps3 controller.

  • Its a PS2 Dual Shock controller, but it was old and the analog on it wouldn't set so it was probably failing.  I just used my PS3 controller which I had sitting in a closet.  However, now when I summon a drone and use its primary weapon it cancels out and explodes.  Not sure why when my buttons were set the way they were before.

Re-installing my video drivers and using another controller has worked wonders for my game.  The game moves much smoother and my crosshair doesn't move around when I'm firing at a target.
