Game Refuses to Install

Hi, I tried installing yesterdays 5th December patch update on my PS4 system. While I was on the 'Preparing to Install' screen I ended up waiting for around half an hour before thinking nothing was happening or it froze. Due to this I restarted my PS4 system from the menu. When my PS4 started back up PvZ shoed as available to start-up. I tried doing this but was met with an error message CE-41807-0. I thought this was associated with PvZ so after starting up my PS4 a second time and still getting the same message I just deleted the game from my System thinking reinstalling might work.

When I visited my PS4 Library I navigated to PvZ and it showed that it was apparently already downloading again. When I tapped on the game in my Library to bring up its details page, the download progress bar did not show but instead the 'Start' button showed. Tapping this button will show a message stating 'This content can not be found, visit store?', and visiting the store takes me to the purchasable game PvZ (which I already own because I bought the Founders Edition months ago. If I return to my Library the game will still show as a 90% downloading progress bar, which it has been doing for the last 24hrs now. It doesn't look like it is actually moving.

I cannot remove games from my PS4 Store Library, and there is no other options in there other than Start or Install. I tried reapplying PS4 licesnes in my settings (as that was the online help I saw associated with the first error code). Nothing works. I can only think to 1) Format my entire PS4 for this 1 game to MAYBE work, or 2) Buy the normal PvZ either digital or physical and see what happens - but I already bought it at Founders release so I should not have to do this again.

I have uploaded images showing what my Library status looks like and the message I get when tapping 'Start'. I also have showed proof that I have played the game and do indeed own it, so there is no need for it to be stalled on download or tell me to buy it again.

Thank you.

  • Hey @Phxenyx

Thank you for the information you've posted.

I did research this Error Code as well, and a lot of people are saying that Formatting the hard drive worked for them, I don't see why you would need to buy another copy.

I would recommend backing up your files, and trying that.

The other option would be to contact Playstation Support, and see if they have other steps that you can try:

Let us know if this works for you.

    Thanks 🙂

    Hi @iluminatethesky,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I formatted my hard drive but it does not seem to have changed the status of PvZ in my Store Library. It still remains frozen at 90% but continues to tell me the game is not found please purchase it. I even tried deleting my entire user from my PS4 and re-adding it to see if the store refreshes, but the game showed the same as above when going back on the store. So strange.

Time to contact Playstation and see if they can assist I guess, otherwise I honestly don't mind spending money again to support PvZ.

    Thanks again.

    Nic

  • @Phxenyx,

Thanks for the Update, sorry you haven't had any luck with this.

I hope PS Support is able to do something about this. I will also raise this up to see if I can get some more information. It does seem really odd that you've been playing since Founders, but now it's telling you to Purchase again.

Let me see what I can find out as well.

    Thanks 🙂

    Hi @iluminatethesky,

Just thought I'd update here in case anyone else comes across this strange issue I have had. I spoke with Playstation and they guided me through using the PS4 Safe Mode Startup settings to try a few things there. I did try a few actually:

    - Rebuild Database (didn't work)

    Restore Default Settings (didn't work)

Initialize PS4 (didn't work - but sadly I now need to obvs re-download EVERYTHING rip)

I then noticed that the first time I entered the Store Library after Initializing (formatting the PS4) this time, the PvZ game showed the download option. Then, after I connected my storage hardrive again, it went back to the original issue. I always set my hardrive as 'Install Location' so that made me believe the game is stuck in an endless corrupt loop trying to download to the drive. I did not realize this at first because I just always started the PS4 up with it plugged in, even through the Safe Mode options.

Long story short, I turned my PS4 off, unplugged the hardrive, then started it up again. Low and behold I can now download PvZ to my Playstation. Once it finished I'm pretty sure I can just plug my hardrive back in with no worries. If it somehow fails when I do that, I'll be back to update. If I am not back, it worked :D

Hope this may help someone in the future, but same time I hope no one has this issue.

    Thanks for everything.

    Nic

  • Hey @Phxenyx,

    Thanks for the heads up!

Hopefully everything will be back to normal for you.

Like you said, keep us posted if you run into any issues after reinstalling and everything.

We'll leave this Thread open here, just in case something arises again. If all is good, let us know 🙂
