Gameplay discussion: Fully automatic varaints

Fully automatic variants

Fully automatic variants take a semi auto character and give them a unique spin by giving them the ability to shoot faster projectiles and hold down the trigger alongside the benefit of additional ammo. The main downside is usually less damage and no splash whatsoever.

Commando pea.

Almanac: The Commando Pea grew up in the jungles and is the toughest pea there is - a one Peashooter army that will never run from a fight.

125 health.

Uses the full auto pea. 30 ammo. A fully automatic weapon that deals 6 to 10 impact damage and 6 to 11 critical damage depending on the range.

His snout is shorter and smaller with the shape of a rifle end that shoots smaller pea.

Bandit cactus

Almanac: After robbing the Zomboss Express the bandit Cactus retired investing her loot in a fix-er-up resort hotel where she spends the majority of time greeting guests and apologizing about the shoddy accommodations. Is this the motel in cactus canyon?

125 health.

Uses the gatling needle. Fires 9 impact damage and 10 critical damage needles.

Mouth has a gatling sticking out like pea gatling.

Mechanic

Almanac: The Mechanic Zombie keeps all of the Zomboss gear in fire working order, or at least he thinks banging things together is fixing them.

125 health.

Uses the air gun (air impactor in 2). 30 ammo. Can deal 6.25-8 damage depending on range.

His name is AL.

Perry technically counts but he was already counted.

Astronaut

Almanac: The Astronaut Zombie claims that there is a secret Lunar Suburbia on the dark side of the moon - a place perfect for Zombie plundering. None of the other Zombies believe him.

100 health.

Uses moon rock launcher. 20 ammo. Deals 13-20 damage depending on range. He has no pellet spread up close like other scientists.

Breakfast Brainz

Almanac: "Breakfast Brainz always starts the day off right, with a hearty meal and plenty of caffeine. He also sports a bacon cape, which is both cool and delicious."

200 health.

He is a strange case. The longer he uses break-fists and batter spatter the faster the fire rate of each weapon becomes. He also gets a temporary speed boost when he vanquishes an enemy, which is signaled by a energy effect around his body.

Break-fists is a rapid series of palm strikes where he will attack with such speed that he will begin to float off the ground and deal immense damage dealing up to around 13 damage per strike. 5 second cool down if he overheats.

Batter spatter causes batter mix to form around his hand and creates a waffle with syrup. They deal 1-6 damage based on range. Like Cozmic he's the only non beam alt.

Removing his toaster shows he has blue eyes like electro and blue frosting on his head.

Commando pea is basically what you get when you like foot soldier but are a plant main and i like him as you can't rely on splash damage but arguably can deal more damage in a shorter span of time.

Bandit cactus is still incredibly accurate at a distance so don't think you can't pelt people. Her damage is enough to take out a 200 health enemy but without upgrades you must score all head shots.

Mechanic is like commando pea in that you love that soldier like weapon and gunplay. This also increases his range.

Astronaut has a nice design and weapon but his range is too good as he has no recoil at longer ranges and he deals over ten damage per shot.

Breakfast Brainz design is one I honestly rarely ever customize so it took a while to realize he had blue eyes. His damage and speed are pretty good but it is annoying when your lagging and your speed resets.

  • Big fan of these variants! Some of my favorite characters are here.

Speaking of which, Commando Pea is my favorite Peashooter. He got a small buff in GW2 but he was my favorite in GW too. Satisfying firing sounds and the versatility of the rapid fire and decent magazine make me like him more than relying on most Peashooter's splash.

Bandit Cactus is a great cactus and I use her for the A+ target range quest as any cactus in GW2, as she's perfect for that. Her weapon essentially became the close range weapon of the BfN cactus.

Mechanic is cool and like the Commando pea for peashooters, he really changes up the play style. Very effective while also very different from the base engineer.

Astronaut is far too good. It's amazing how sick he is when you pay attention to him, especially compared to other snipers, which he basically has an sniper assault rifle. My most played scientist for boss hunts, for obvious reasons, but I don't play him in multiplayer anymore.

Breakfast Brainz is my favorite Super Brainz and he's seen a lot of changes. I love that he shoots waffles at range and his main melee attack are 'Break-Fists', stuff like this is exactly why I love PvZ so much. the only change I did to his costume is to make his cape bacon!

No Sky Trooper though? I figured he might be here, that's my favorite foot solider and wasn't sure where he fits since the basic character is already full-auto.

@Iron_Guard8 Sky trooper will go in the increased rate of fire section with shadow flower since soldier already has an automatic weapon.

Astronaut needs some recoil or decreased damage as it's far too effective to snipe with him something a lot of other scientist's can't really do to balance there damage. At least we get to see him in moon maps now.

Originally breakfast brainz was gonna be based on one breakfast object and was called coffee man and I'm so glad they changed that.
  • Time to shift gears into automatic! These characters are mainly able to shoot for longer at a faster and more continuous rate. The benefits will generally come along with a cost attached to it, such as reduced damage or possibly losing traits that the character would otherwise possess.

You can use these characters to suppress your enemies and to retain fire on your enemies for longer without a break. These characters can autofire, meaning you can essentially increase their attack rate by constantly holding the fire button.

Commando Pea: Has 30 maximum ammo (instead of the default 10). Your shots will deal 6-10 damage or 6-11 critical damage, which is dependant on the distance from you and your enemy. You lose the ability to deal splash damage and the damage of each of your shots is reduced, however you shoot at a much faster and automatic rate. You may be more likely to miss shots due to the increased fire rate, however missing your shots will be less significant as each individual shot deals less damage.

Bandit Cactus: Has 20 maximum ammo (instead of the default 10). Your shots will deal 9 damage or 10 critical damage, which is unaffected by distance. This allows you to retain your sniper capabilities. You are more likely to miss your shots, although you have a significantly improved rate of fire to make up for this, and missing your shots will be less significant as each individual shot deals less damage. Attack at closer ranges to land more of your shots, or at long ranges to take advantage of no damage dropoff and to essentially be a sniper.

Astronaut: Has 20 maximum ammo (instead of the default 5). Your shots will deal about 13-20 damage, which is dependant on the distance from you and your enemy. This is the only variant of Scientist who is unable to deal additional blast damage when extremely close to your enemies, so attacking at long ranges should work for you. You may miss shots more often at long range due to not being close to your enemies, however you actually have darn good accuracy even at further ranges and you have a significantly improved rate of fire, so this should not be an issue. Attack at closer ranges for maximum damage and to hit most of your shots, or at long ranges to prevent engaging with your enemies at close quarters.

Mechanic: Has 30 maximum ammo (instead of the default 10). Your shots will deal 6-8 damage, which is dependant on the distance from you and your enemy. You lose the ability to deal splash damage and this is the only Engineer variant that does not deal splash damage. The damage of each of your individual shots are reduced, however you shoot at a much faster and automatic rate. You may be more likely to miss your shots due to the increased fire rate, however missing your shots will be less significant as each individual shot deals less damage.

Breakfast Brainz: You have 2 different attacks, which each work in a similar way. Your punches become automatic, and continuously using it will increase your speed until you achieve an insanely fast rate of fire. Your beam is automatic as well and continuously using it will increase your speed until you achieve a significantly improved fire rate. If you use your weapons for too long, you will overheat. This is the only variant of Super Brainz who is able to overheat his punches. Your punches will deal a maximum of 13 damage per strike and your beam will deal 1-6 damage, which is dependant on the distance from you and your enemy. You will gain a temporary speed boost whenever you successfully vanquish an enemy.

    Basic Notes

    • You could use the Ammo upgrade on these characters, as they already have high amounts of maximum ammo and using this upgrade will improve their maximum ammo count further and allow you to keep firing for even longer. Breakfast Brainz gains the Overheat upgrade instead, which I suggest using as he can punch or use his beam for even longer before you overheat.
    • Using the Damage upgrade could be viable for these characters, as these characters deal less damage per shot, however using this upgrade will improve the damage slightly of every successful shot that you inflict, which could increase your overall damage per second.
    • The increased rate of fire could reduce your accuracy and cause you to miss a lot of shots. You could either use the Zoom upgrade to improve your accuracy while you are aiming, or try to attack your enemies at close ranges, and you should find yourself landing more shots.
    • You may benefit from attacking a single enemy at a time, as all automatic variants listed above lose splash damage if they even would have had it at all, and your attacks can only deal damage to a single enemy at a time. Focus on gunning down an enemy, and then select another enemy to attack.
    • You should hold the trigger when attacking to get the most out of these characters and maximise their damage per second. However, if you need to change direction to attack enemies and there are no enemies in the direction you are currently facing, you can let go to change direction and possibly reload while doing this. Give yourself a break while reloading as well!

These characters are interesting and are straightforward to use!
