Garden Ops Challenges - Mount Steep!

Hi everyone,

This time I will be giving my personal tips in order to complete the Garden Ops quests successfully in Mount Steep. The Ops is located in Rocky Flats, near the truck. This guide I have here will include the characters you need to complete Ops as for the challenges, general tips for surviving and winning ops, and how you should use each character to complete the Ops challenges successfully. Rewards you can get include Coins and Sheriff Badges. There is also a medal in Mount Steep where you must complete an entire game of Ops without being vanquished even once. I'm going to go over that as well. How can you get your rewards? You will be asked to complete Ops once or more times as each following character: Rose, Corn and Citron. This is not in order. If you complete the Ops as all three characters, then talk to Sergeant Peel at the Ops base and he will give you coins and sheriff badges.

Completing the Ops

You need to complete 3 games of Ops as 3 different, specific characters to get your rewards. Rose, Corn and Citron (in a random order) are the characters. You can claim your rewards once you have completed Ops as each of those characters once or more. You can complete Ops at any time, and with any character, an infinite amount of times. However, if you do, you will not receive any bonus rewards.

General Ops Tips

Make sure to use Pots to your advantage. Consider which ones you place and where you place them, similar to Plants Town Center. For instance, the Heal pot would probably be best placed close to the garden, as you can defend it while healing with your Heal pot. You wouldn't want to put it far away from your Garden because the zombies can spawn near it and vanquish it easily. You might also want to place melee pots, goop-shrooms and lightning reeds closer to the garden. Make sure to consider which pots you place and where.

Try to always stay near the garden so you can defend it and your pots much more easily. You could however go out and find some easy zombies to vanquish at the start of a wave, then head back to the garden.

Make sure to use your character attacks and abilities to your advantage and try not to get vanquished, as it could cost you the game of Ops.

If you are trying to earn your challenge rewards, talk to Sergeant Peel to see what character he wants you to be, then do it as that character.

Trying Not to Get Vanquished During Ops for the Medal

  • Use your Heal pot to your advantage, and remember it has a cooldown. So consider location.
  • Retreat if your health gets low and keep checking your health.
  • Stay away from the edge of the map, as you could be knocked over the edge.
  • Use pots to your advantage, they can help defend your garden even while you are healing.
  • Consider using upgrades that enhance your survivability.

Completing it as Rose!

  • Use your Primary attack from a bit of a distance, as it has homing. Getting too close or too far away from enemies is not going to achieve much.
  • Use Jinx to increase your damage against enemies with high health. Especially bosses and zombie heroes.
  • Use Arcane Enigma to move around or retreat.
  • Use Goatify to turn clustered zombies into goats, leaving them much more defenseless. Especially if piled around the garden.
  • If you are using Thorn Apart, use it against enemies with higher health. Perhaps Jinx them first.

Completing it as Kernel Corn!

  • Use your Primary attack to damage and vanquish enemies, especially from afar.
  • Use Butter Beacon to improve your damage and find out where the zombies are coming from.
  • Use Husk Hop to damage clustered enemies, including if clustered around the garden, or on enemies with lots of health to weaken them.
  • Use Shuck Shot on enemies with plenty of health, as you can weaken them a lot this way.
  • If you are using Shogun-Guard, use your primary from a fair distance, similar to if you were not using the upgrade. Use the shield if your health is low or you don't need to move around a lot.

Completing it as Citron!

  • Use your Juice Cannon to deal damage to enemies, consider that it is a triple-barrel weapon.
  • Use your Peel Shield to defend yourself, especially if you are on low health, the garden or pots.
  • Use your E.M. Peach to stun enemies, especially if they cluster around your garden.
  • Use your Spin Dash to ram groups of enemies.
  • Use your Navel Laser if you have high health, on clustered enemies or enemies with lots of health.

So, what to get out of all these tips? Consider the pots you place and where you place them, which are the best situations to use your character abilities in, and remember to retreat if your health is low to avoid being vanquished and potentially costing you the game. If you can do that, not much trouble should be headed your way.

Well, hopefully this guide was helpful to some, so bye!

  • @aikohu Omg I tried for like 2 hours today trying to win as rose and I’d get to the last zombie and it would be the toilet zombie with my thing at 1% health. Gotta get some friends to help me 😂

@aikohu  Same here, it took a while for me and my brother to win as Rose for this challenge. After all, she is Support not Attack or Defend.

  • Impressive walkthrough. I recommend Combat Aura Upgrade for all Support class PvE build. They become instant Attack class and really fun🙌
