How to get rainbow stars without event?

Is there truly no other way of obtaining rainbow stars without jumping through EA's marketing hoops? If that's the case how is anyone that doesn't have time to grind and grind for hours on a time sensitive game mode supposed to earn them? Especially when you need over 100 just to open ONE of the chest after beating the gnome king.

    @st_lucifer303 The only way to earn rainbow stars is playing events by portal in the town hall . There is no other way to earn them. In one event you can earn more than 50 stars. You need to play , play and earn them.
    I think earning them isn't so hard.
