How to hide in plain sight as Scientist?

I think I've figured it out. I have extensively played this game. More than you'd know, being a Scientist always feels like you are constantly focus fired. I've experienced this the whole time the game has been out! Once they know you're there you're their primary target!

I decided to play vanquishless Multiplayer matches in Turf war. Pure revival and healing. Besides being the lowest score on my team (But heal and revival master several games running for sure), I noticed a quirky thing... nobody shot at me. <_< A chomper actually gooped me, spike weeded me, STARED AT ME... then left me alone. The only shots I took were from cactuses (Who could nott know that I wouldn't shoot them) and shots when I'd make an in-combat revival... in the midst of several plants... OFTEN TIMES ON THE CAPTURE POINT!!

... And I always got away!....

No one knew I was there. I don't know if this was because I didn't leave the game and get a new batch of people, but no matter how many times the teams flipped it was like I didn't exist unless I was the sole target around... and even then, nobody and I mean over six or so games, -NOBODY- would chase me down and try to engage me... I was baffled! I'm not a pyschologist but I'm absolutely stunned. At most I saw a 0-3, no higher from anyone, and most times I will shoot and destroy any chomper because they ate my heal target.

No no, I ran up to these chompers, stared at them while they ate them and ran off. @.@ Nothing!!!

I'm baffled. Boggled! Intrigued to no end. I intend to experiment more with this. If you see a Scientist not shooting you, you might know that it's me. Put me in the ground and prove to me that I'm not invisible because I'm getting 30-FOURTY-TWO revivals per match... unhassled.

Quick edit: My friend says it's because people instinctively shoot at the things that shoot at them, so if I'm not threatening they only see the other threats?

But how?! Healers are primary targets!

Their reply?

"You're fighting mostly children"

Touche.

  • 1. I will fight back anybody who shoot me first.

    2. If they're multiple enemies shooting me, I will fight the one closes to me.

    3. If there's no way to win a close battle with multiple enemies, I will try to kill as most as possible.

I never let the enemy pass by (even if they're not shooting)  unless I'm super busy fighting with others.

Record some video and share with us how it happens

  • I can't even get a video of what I'm trying to explain to you.

It's like if you teleport onto someone to revive them JUST as they died... had you been playing aggressively up to that point, they anticipate a scientist will show up. A familiar one that has killed them.

When I don't vanquish, or shoot for that matter, I can teleport in hardly a second after they've vanquished someone (And that's a pretty dead give away to someone who's listening for the warp noise) people seem to ignore me hopping around and reviving others. What's more, I can do this multiple times with succession! I'll usually save both warps to do it but I'm being able to do it with one, while still having enough life to fool around healing slightly hurt people who are drawing attention to themselves.

It isn't winning me any games, and it's definitely not making me much money. And then there's the roses who catch on and know what you're up to..

.. So what I'm saying here is I must decline you footage of it simply because it is dark matter. Called the Scientists because I've figured it out.

I always shoot at a scientist reviving someone, if they're not jump reviving the person out of my line of sight..  That way I get to kill the first person I killed, then the scientist, then again the person I killed initially.

I haven't fully explored the rules that govern the hit markers in this game, but maybe by not shooting, you are not causing an icon to show on the enemy's screen.

  • You have better luck then I sir.  I will say there is a nitch for every class.  Some people can mop the floor with any super brainz.  I am not one of those that can consistently do it well.  With the GW1 map returning I feel he will shine brighter for me.

I tend to focus my shots on enemies that are close as @asukojo points out earlier; A-they're hard to miss when that close, B-you generally do more damage to close enemies over distant ones, and C-a closer enemy is generally a larger threat than a distant one.

I rarely play assault scientist myself anyway, I use the heal ball and support more than being a shotgun assassin, but I've seen it pulled off so it can work, but when playing plants I tend to watch for that for obvious reasons.

  • @Ziago_J The other players probably thought you were this:

and so they didn't bother attacking you for the most part.
