I need Tips to defeat a gnome boss

I can't defeat a gnome boss and I tried multiple times with different classes and still no luck.

  • i assume you mean the Trial Guardian from the Trials of Gnomus.

My suggestions would be to, firstly, use a character variant which you feel that you are good with; if that variant happens to have fire, toxic, or ice effects all the better.

Your next tactic should be to make use of the Bot/Pot spawning sites before opening the Portal; planting spawnables which have freezing or stunning attacks can help you with the standard Gnome troops.

Your third tactic needs to be to stay mobile; getting cornered or surrounded is bad news. Use the columns in the room to block fire from the Guardian and try to keep him a good distance away while you clear out Gnomes from behind you and don't be afraid to simply run and dodge your way across the map so that the Gnomes are grouped mainly on one side.

Don't try to fight at close range, and don't rely too much on Zoomed weapons since you move slower while aiming and that makes it easy for you to get surrounded.

Preferably fight the Guardian from as far away as you can manage and if there are a lot of Gnomes in the room focus on them over the Guardian and use mobility and the columns to block any incoming fire.

I used Toxic Super Brainz for all four trials with toxic upgrade, toxic overload upgrade and speed...and him being a master...it still took me a few times for a few of them.  Always use a master unless you are out of control good.  For the last (final) trial I had trouble with Toxic Brainz so I used Toxic Citron, basically same upgrades as I had just written for Toxic Brainz.  The shield of citron I feel helped out a lot as well as being able to get away in a hurry.  For the level try to become a creature of habit, I got used to my play character, I knew where to move at certain points.  I got to the point where I finessed (or altered) my play based on my results, try with what @realitysquared mentioned.  I put bots and heal stations in the same locations try after try once I knew they were efficient.  With Toxic Brainz the first few beginning waves I just punched out at first in order to eliminate them immediately from following me around.  You'll get nervous after a while of play and if you get close to the final vanquish you'll need to keep your head or you'll just die sweating it out...so stay calm. Good luck!

  • I'm going to safely assume like the others have stated that you are referring to Trials of Gnomus.

I definitely agree to use a class that you are most comfortable with. It is also key to stay mobile. Do not stay in one spot and utilize the plant pots/bots thing to plant random energy when it is needed. Whatever you do, do not plant any energies until you actually need them.

Once the Gnome boss emerges, you only have to worry about vanquishing it.

I used the Vampire Flower (it has 75 health before the health upgrade of 85), but for whatever damage you do on the enemy, it regenerates the health back up. The sunflower walks the fastest too, which is helpful for running away from them.

However, the majority of the Gnome bosses, I used my Toxic Peashooter with Toxic upgrade and Health upgrade.

  • Hi All:

My strategy was as follows (it's been a while, so my memory may be a bit rusty here):

Play as a Vampire Sunflower, with speed upgrade, vampiric drain upgrade, and reload upgrade.

Plant a few ranged pots around the area, but keeping about three empty (more on this later).

Summon the enemy and take out the ranged minions as quickly as possible.

Most of your movement will be backing away from the enemy so you can keep firing at them.

Like infinity time, you do not want to face the boss head-on. Play a cowards game of kiting the boss and minions around the area, slowly wearing them down.

If your health starts to get too low, then:

Back away towards an empty pot, and plant a heal flower there, then heal beam it to keep it healthy while it keeps you healthy.

When the boss/minions close in on you, run away as fast as possible (try zig/zagging to throw off any remaining ranged weapons).

When you are far enough away rinse and repeat the kiting strategy described above.

Since you are playing as a vampire flower, each HIT gives you health. Hence the fire while backup up suggestion. Only use the heal pots when you really need a bump in health and, as described above, don't get boxed in by a swarm of enemies.

    Good luck!
