This issue affects users in Chinese Mainland and impacts all games using EA Javelin (e.g., Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2). The problem stems from EA Javelin’s version routing logic, not the game itself.
Reproduction Steps:
- Launch the game → EA Javelin auto-update triggers.
- Expected: Javelin downloads the latest version (as of now, the latest version is 1.0.12601614, released February 23, 2026) and the game launches.
- Actual:
- Javelin downloads the July 2025 release if the installed version ≠ July 2025 release.
- Game fails to launch with error 115, prompting a manual update via installer.
- Critical Cycle:
- Manual update via installer also downloads the aforementioned older version.
- Next game launch reverts Javelin to the older version, repeating the failure.
Summary:
EA Javelin’s version routing is incorrectly serving the July 2025 release to users in Chinese Mainland, causing a loop where manual updates are overwritten. This is a server-side configuration issue (not a game bug), and it blocks game launches for affected users.
Also, it is worth mentioning that this issue affects all games that depends on Javelin.
