10 years agoIs PVZGW2 dying?
It all started with the "Trouble in Zombopolis: Part One" update, infamous for the character tuning that came with it.
Among the changes, increased Citron and Frozen Citron's damage, and increas...
Well, I can't find any players in multiplayer. Is it because nobody is playing this game anymore? I just bought this game yesterday...

when there is a community portal up the size of people playing normal multiplayer suffers greatly so thats most likely what you are seeing also the time of day also has a factor :P granted tho a huge chunck of the communty did go back to gw1 since the zombopolis update and even more during the whole hit detection bug that took MONTHS for popcap to fix
The one thing I hate the most about GW2 is something I'm both very sensitive and angry about: the Always-On DRM and persistent online connection required to play games like GW2. It's something I'm against the most because Online-Only games offer no freedom when it comes to playing the game. If you have a bad internet connection, and you can't play the game, what are you going to do? People just want to play the game, but they can't because of that stupid, unnecessary restriction. This seriously damages our freedom with videogames. I should know, because I'm against that restriction dear-heartedly.
If GW3 were ever to be made, the dev team must NOT impose the same Always-On restriction that GW1 and GW2 suffer from. If the dev team wants GW3 to be the best game ever in the trilogy, the Always-On restriction should NEVER set afoot whatsoever.

The always on DRM is a good thing there. To allow offline play means to allow save games stored with the clients, which opens them to hacking and all sorts of nasty side effects. Does nobody remember the problems with Borderlands 2? People were hacking their saves to max their characters, give themselves modded weapons which they could dupe for other players, etc. Imagine encountering a low level player in GW2 with every class unlocked and every character maxed, every customization unlocked, etc. There could be other side effects too. There was this BL2 situation on 360 where hackers modified their saves to enable a flag, which also spread itself virally through the community, and any player joining a match with anyone affected by this could easily find their entire game progress wiped.
This is a MP focused game with the ability to play solo, however it's clearly MP focused. I understand wanting to play it while servers are down, however if the goal is to voluntarily stay offline most or all of the time then I'd suggest getting a different game. The vast majority of players in a game like this will be online, and having saves stored on the server keeps the community safer from exploits like BL2 suffered.
There was an NFS game on PS4 which was always online, and afaik it was a SP focused game, so I'm not sure why it needed to be always online. I wouldn't support that choice in a game like that, but for GW2 and GW3 it's the right thing to do.

you havnt watched any youtube videos on gw2 have you? people have been caught using damage boosting mods in gw2 people have shown they can data mine the game and discover stuff thats not even released yet but its in the game ready for it being always online doesnt protect the game anymore then having it save to your console if someone wants to put a virus in the game itll be 10x worse cause itll be on the servers instead of attached to 1 person that you HAVE to be in a game with to have its package unload
Nope. Can't find a single player in that portal either.
So people are now going back to GW1? Will I find people there in the multiplayer mode? I will be playing on PC unless there are a lot more player in PS4.
So are the reason why nobody is playing this game anymore is because the chaotic character balance problem and the horrible RNG? I just downloaded GW1 and to my surprise I actually found matches for both coop and PvP. Does this mean that GW1 has better balance between characters?

If you are finding empty lobbies in PC then you will definitely be more players on PS4. I play GW2 pretty much every day and have no problems finding full or nearly full teams for almost any play mode.
Really!? So why is the PC server so empty? Hackers?
I haven't played any online multiplayer game on PS4 since Destiny. You still need the PS Plus subscription to be able to play online, right?
