If I ever use a Scientist it's this guy, not because of his damage. I just enjoy seeing his fish tank on his back and seeing him feed his Dolphin Gun after every reload. I miss the Shark accessory biting on his head in GW1 which I use to have equipped on his head. It just finished him off nicely.
I'm fine if they toned down his damage, I would still use him as he will always be my fav Scientist.
The whole Scientist Class is OP though, not just this guy.
He's currently not a support character, he's an Assassin. He warps in for max damage and then warps out to safety to heal. Plants need a class similar to this to compete and they have no one. A shotgun Sunflower wouldn't work either as it doesn't have the necessary utilities to be effective. It really has to be a new class specific to that role.
Yeah I've been levelling my Marine dude up the last few days and feeding that fish, I just fire one bullet just to feed him again 🙂
