Memory leaks on the menu screens cause the Xbox One X fan to ramp up to max

Product: Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
Please specify your platform model. Microsoft Xbox One X
Please provide your Xbox gamertag or PSN ID. (Optional) SigmaTheDJ
In what game mode did the bug occur? Everywhere
Summarize your bug When you launch the game and it gets beyond the splash screen, you get to a menu screen where you have to press A to log into the main server. On this screen, the Xbox One X fan ramps up to max. Once you press A, you get a loading screen, then the fan ramps back down again, however, then you get to the second menu screen and the fan again ramps up to max. Once you enter the main hub world of the game, the fan again ramps back down.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Launch the game. 2. Wait for the splash screen to disappear, so you're at the main menu where you log in to the server. At this point the issue will occur. 3. Press A to log in. At this point the fan will ramp down again. 4. When the game connects to the server, you'll get to another menu screen. The issue will occur again.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)

This issue occurs in the 2 menu screens that you see when you launch the game: -

1. The first menu screen where you have to press A to connect to the server.

2. The second menu screen you see after choosing to connect to the server, once it's connected.

The fan in the Xbox One X ramps up to max, as if the FPS is unlimited or there's a memory leak or something. This behaviour is certainly not normal.

I can provide a video of this happening if necessary, but you should be able to easily replicate it.

    Here's a video of it happening: -

There are certain animated menus in this game that cause the fan in my console to ramp up way more than it does with any other game, or even with this game when I'm actually in a match and playing it. To me that strongly suggests that something is amiss with the menus themselves.

Unfortunately the mic on my phone doesn't pick up the sound of the console all that well, so you can't hear just how loud it's getting when at those menu screens - but it's definitely ramping up considerably, and only during those screens.

  • @SigmaTheDJ This has happened to me on Xbox x scorpio since week 5 and only once since was able to get past title to play just fine. Now I just play on Xbox S hoping praying they fix so I can be enjoy the beautiful graphics and smoother gameplay again. Help here just wants user to do all the trouble shooting instead of looking into and fixing.

@Starfire696 This shouldn't be difficult for them to replicate, so hopefully they'll be able to fix it via a patch.
