My Steam Blaster Review
This upgrade is very frustrating and I believe it's OP. I LOVE playing the scientist and i feel like it takes a lot of skill balance out killing and healing. This upgrade, I cant consistently get v...
@mikepal19Yeah, I'm not too sure what to think about steam blaster going through shields.
I agree that sticky healy thingy needs to be reverted back to its previous state. I think they wanted to lower the active time, so I think the previous SHT with a lower active time would be good.
I haven’t unlocked the upgrade myself just yet but by your description and gameplay footage I am reminded, in a general sense, of the Chemist in GW2- short range, wide spread, high damage, low ammo.
The “balancing” factor for Chemist was the high risk-to-reward ratio since you pretty much needed to be in your opponents face to be effective, but I’ll need to get hands on to see if the Steam Blaster is similar in that regard so I’ll likely weigh in with an actual opinion later.
For me personally even 2 months ago when I first saw this upgrade in action I knew it was gonna be a op weapon because of 2 reasons simply. 1. Because it has a dot effect and no real stupid gimmick attach to it. any weapon with a dot effect like the sb is gonna be a good at killing or at least a good weapon for assists which was my first expectations of the weapon and I was correct. I think the anmo Is justified and the damage output is fairly reasonable for the slow attack speed. If you a pro scientist player like me then you should know the exploit to double the shot speed of the weapon. Idk about pc or Xbox but I was the first person running around on ps4 using the technique but speeding all the way back to the present it seems like more people are actually catching on now lol.
2. The weapon is naturally strong at close range like it should be it pretty much one shot night caps and acorns two shot sunflowers cactuses and roses three shots pea shooters and corns etc. to me that’s arguably fair because scientist is super squishy and not to mention the very low anmo capacity. Also the weapon definitely encourages you to play very stealthy and patiently. Sneak around the plants team base and let let them have it. Even if they try to turn around or as soon as they do just instantly teleport away that way you still get the kill because they would be confuse As to where the steam Is coming from and probably die in the process lol so Anyways I really don’t see a problem here... if I’m gonna be honest tho as much I love the exploit I feel like it’s only right to patch it because that to me is the only real reason this weapon is really op imo...
