New Character Variant Suggestion: Copter Commando Imp

Before We Begin... I would like to thank all of you for checking out this post and let you know that I want to avoid going into too much detail and leave the rest for the developers if the like they idea. So don't expect finalized or completely balanced statistics for the character in this suggestion post. Thank you!

The Copter Commando Imp

-Summary: The copter commando imp is a long range, rapid fire character variant with a helicopter. He is intended primarily for reconnaissance and stealth attacks. The appearance of this character should be heavily based on the copter commando imp from PvZ: Heroes. I will post a picture of it below.

Stats of the Copter Commando

-Primary Weapon: The primary weapons of the copter commando imp are his Precision Propellers. The Precision Propellers are extremely accurate long-ranged, rapid-fire weapons. The ammo capacity of these weapons is 25 and the rate of fire is about two thirds that of the regular imp.

-Abilities: The same as the regular imp. Except for his Copter Call ability, which causes his helicopter to appear above him and drop a rope ladder, which he proceeds to climb up.

Stats of the Brainz Copter

-Primary Weapon: The primary weapon of the Brainz Copter are its' Zappy Lasers, which are very similar in design to the pirate drone's lasers.

-Hitpoints: The Brainz Copter will have 175 hitpoints, half the health of a normal Z-Mech. It will also be limited by a shorter energy timer on the bottom middle of the screen which causes the vehicle to self destruct when it runs out. The helicopter will instantly explode upon contact to the ground though (For minuscule damage ).

-Abilities:

-Ability 1: The first ability of the Brainz Copter is the Brainz Barrage, in which the helicopter fires several explosive brains to the area it targets, but there is a slight delay on this attack so it will take precision to aim it.

-Ability 2: The second ability for the Brainz Copter is the classic explosive escape, except this time the imp fires himself out of the helicopter's primary gun onto the ground where he targets. After he leaves the helicopter, it falls to the ground and explodes.

-Ability 3: Bombs Away! When the Brainz Copter uses its' third ability, a hatch on the bottom of the helicopter opens, dropping an explosive imp onto the ground below it. Quite simple, yet deadly.

Thanks for reading,

  • So precision power, and the "mech" is a flying unit like the drones with low health and good firepower?

I like the idea, but if I could make a small suggestion, I think the copter with its low health would do fine having the full run time the other 'mechs do. There's a pretty good chance it'll be shot down by a peashooter's gatling ability.

    Good post.

Thank you for the positive feedback! I suppose there is no harm in buffing its power limit to match the others, I just didn't want my first suggestion to be overpowered.
  • That one is actually really good. Only thing that because that heli flying above everyone, it will probably get all fire from plant and die really fast. So i think must be fast enough and have a plenty of health, but to not make it OP it must have really weak main weapon. Yeah, maybe as parrot lasers as you said.

It probably hit and run class, fly to enemy drop bombs, and then escape to recharge.

Interesting idea...I see you've got the idea from something you've seen on a 2D card game that requires virtually zero balancing and want to enjoy playing it in a 3D shooter that is already suffering extreme balancing issues primarily due to Mechs. This would potentially make things an infinitely amount of times worse...

Why do you think the Cactus / Parrot drones have very little? The bombs they drop are game changing when dropped into capture points near the end, it's like auto win every time. Just imagine 5 of them up there, imagine Imps dropping from the skies randomly on every map, don't you think that'd be a little unfair?

You've presented it beautifully, and as much love to see this creation in any game, ideas have to be fair and balanced for both teams otherwise people aren't going to buy the game. Or they are just going to buy it and force themselves onto the zombie team each game like they are currently already doing which ruins the gaming experience for everyone.

I usually agree with every new variant, but in my opinion this one is game breaking. Imagine a full team of these hovering over the plants spawn point, or even 2-3 of them for that matter, absolutely mental 🙂

@Zaheen1337 I appreciate your response, but I specifically noted that the damage and other stats of these characters should be tweaked by game developers for the sake of balancing, as I did not want to make the exact statistics when I was simply suggesting an idea. And also, regarding your worries about the bombs this helicopter would drop, I am only intending for its first ability to do under 15 damage and its third ability would just be a regular spawn able explosive imp. I hope this reply helps you. Thanks for the feedback!

@delete180 I was definitely aiming for a sort of hit-and-run play style when I thought of the idea. The reason I set the maximum health of this mech so low is so that it will be forced to play strategically, because otherwise it could simply fly straight out into the fire of the plants and still manage to kill them. Thank you for the feedback! I am definitely considering any and all new suggestions.

It is clear to everyone how much time you've spent thinking it through, presenting it and balancing it and I felt awful even disagreeing with it on that basis alone. It's not so much the damage it will do, it's primarily due to the fact it's flying.

Also, you're not even going to be able to get into certain areas of the maps if you're in a flying Mech, it'll cause chaos and force plants to retreat to shelter, and then you're going to see that crowded plant area flooded with Imp Punts, Barrels and Turbo Twisters, and of course not to mention ground Mechs.

As beautiful and nice as that Helicopter looks, I really can't see this helping or balancing this game in a positive way. That is ultimately the only reason I am disagreeing. I hope this helps, I really do hope you suggest other things though, the time and effort you've spent in thinking up this is refreshing to see.

Let's see what everyone else has to say, this of course is just my opinion 🙂

@Zaheen1337 Thank you so much for the positivity! I can see where you're coming from and I am hoping that some more balance can be added into the game. I guess that we will have to wait and see what the others think.
