@Iron_Guard8Tbh I never really cared about the upgrades in gw1 and 2, they were just kinda there imo. I wonder who saw them and decided they needed to do more of that system rather than the widely liked variants in bfn.
The main problem is also how broken the upgrades made some characters like hardened but with others they didn't really get anything gamechanging and some are really unimaginative like more damage on last shot isnt interesting and it most likely will never be used unless you suck at aiming that much or a speed boost while walking in a game with sprint and mobility abilities, why?
Lengendaries like steam blaster highlighted just how broken scientist was in his core design with 3 insta warps and heals. Thorns apart charges regardless of helping teamates so just play as normal then delete a zombie player.
More variants like yeti chomper that change the way a class plays their primary weapon could be a great idea followed through. Man, I miss the differing z mechs for every imp variant.
AvP 2000 and AvP 2010 are both on steam yet its easier to find multiplayer games on 2010 (console is freaking dead). You can find avp2 and primal hunt on the internet for free on avpunkown along with custom server instructions.
The 2010 devs were going to make a direct sequel with the playable characters from 2010 involved with influence from those insane comics until the licensing got ripped in half with the fox buyout so we can only wonder what it would be after the ending of the game being a good setup premise.
Another reason fireteams arrival was luke warm is some people just saw it as discount bug hunt survival from avp with no other gamemodes.
@stukapooka the thing I miss most about no variants in BfN are those different mechs. I loved that part of Imps in GW2!
Some upgrades in BfN are just 'there' they don't do much, or are generic, or fill up that last point in your build and others like hardened for Acorn and rapid fire for the Foot Soldier are too good even at their cost. They would need to fix this for a new game if they kept this idea. I say the idea for the upgrades in BfN is good, just that they weren't implemented well.
They could drop legendary upgrades and bring back variants for sure. They have some they need to balance before adding more, but the idea of a Space Cadet with a flamethrower, and a poison Oak and other variants are very cool, but we need to avoid stuff like Brainium Basher ruining lobbies.
They need to examine all abilities for a new game, especially a lot of the changes they made in BfN like the scientist's warps, the heavy helper, and so on.
- stukapooka5 years agoLegend@Iron_Guard8 Yeah bfn abilities should either be dropped or reworked as I dont want gw2 discount fat peashooters engineer abilities but i don't wont the braindead splice of demoman and torbjorn that can easily fly out of combat with no risk or diet widowmaker deadbeard/cactus who the map design doesn't accomodate at all. All stars shield was just kinda there like I wouldnt mind being able to walk through it but the forcefield was trash, nightcap is a terrible stealth character, citron is discount Reinhardt with a gun, and slide deserves a more unique moveset.
I dont think anybody uses the first few upgrades in bfn unless to fill out the set of their more broken abilities.
I wouldnt worry if the first thing I heard about a new game is "brainium basher will not return".
